Quick Food Question I just have a quick question, I am trying to get little Bentley to eat more, and I'm wondering if I incorporate something sweet he will be attracted to it. I have some crushed pineapple, wondering if I mix a little bit and some of the juice into his dry food if it will get him to nibble, and the sugar would be good. However I'm not sure if pineapple is okay for yorkie's to eat, I know grapes and raisins are a no no - but what about pineapple? Thank you so much in advance! -Rissa |
I would not mix any kind of sweet juice over his food...it would be better if you used a good quality canned dog food instead. How old is he and how much is he eating? Puppies don't eat much. |

He is not eating at all. He has been to the vet, emergency hospital. He is going to the vet again tomorrow. They told me to try chicken and rice, baby food. All which have no worked, or worked for one small feeding and then have not worked again. I am getting concerned with the possibility of a liver shunt because of his weak state ( he has not being playing around like he once was ), and his vomitting. At first I thought he may have been vomiting/coughing up whiteish /clearish stuff because it was the pneumonia was breaking up with the new medicine but now I'm wondering if he is just really vomiting but since he has little/nothing in his stomach nothing is coming up. I am having to try and supplement him w/ Nutri-Cal but I would really like to get him to eat something. I have tried everything I could think of. Maybe I am over-racting, being the overly nervous first time pup-mom, but I am seriously freaked out. |
unsweeted pineapple, apples and bananas are fine and appetizing to the dog. |
Cottege chesse and yogurt too! My dog's fav! |
Changing his food will also cause stomach upsets & make him not want to eat. Is he on antibiotics for pnemonia? This can also cause stomach upsets. Try giving him plain boiled chicken mixed w/white rice (warmed together w/ the chicken, makes it tastier). If he eats it, next feeding time, wet his kibble w/the warm water from the chicken & mix it w/chicken & rice. Also try unsalted scrambled eggs (no oil) or hard boiled egg minus the yolk. Hope he'll feel better soon. Please give us an update. |
