NutriSource Puppy Food Our puppies came home on NutriSource Small/Medium Breed Puppy Food, Chicken and Rice Formula. Is anyone familiar with it? Their website and nutrient description is www.nutrisourcedogfood.com/nutrisource/products Girl is 18 weeks and 2lb7oz, boy is 15 wks and 1lb 14oz. I also give some baby rice cereal, cottage cheese, and spoonful of Caesar all mixed together (about 2 T each twice a day). They have done well on the Nutrisource and I think their nutrient description sounds good, but I suddenly ran out and couldnt find it in town. DH came home with Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites Puppy, (chicken meal, rice, and oatmeal). I searched on YT and it sounds bad. Now their stools are a bit softer and smell worse after 2 days on it. Should I just order the Nutrisource online or what would be good to switch to that I can get locally? I think most of the YT recommended brands are in town, just not the Nutrisource that they came home on. Thus I dont even have any to mix to transition them. What to do? Good easy to switch to food that won't give soft and stinky stools and who knows what could happen next with Natural Choice! Thanks. |

Nutrisource dog food Thanks. It seems to indicate it is a 3 star puppy food. I read over the nutrient analysis and nothing caught my eye as bad. I wonder if I missed something if it is only 3 star? Unfortunately, there also were no reviews. I have spent so so many hours "dissecting" all the different possible foods my dh is going nuts! He says pick one and get off the computer! (sounds familiar). I notice the previously highly rated Royal Canin now lists corn gluten meal in the first 2 or 3 ingredients, ugh. Innova sounds like a good choice. Nature's Variety has a lot to choose from, but seems like high protein raw frozen would not be a complete food, plus not give them the kibble to crunch for their teeth. I am so confused. And feeling guilty because I don't think i"ve put as much effort into feeding my human children! Any advice appreciated. Also can't decide between grains and grain-free. I'm hopelessly indecisive. Thanks. |
Innova puppy is fantastic!!!! I would also recommend Just for Puppy by Wellness. Raw frozen diets are very complete diets. Or you can rotate raw with kibble with a good time span in between. I feed raw in morning and offer kibble in evening. Grainfree is good but I didn't start Snickers off on it when he was a puppy. I would recommend waiting until your pup is about 7-8 months or reach "adulthood" to feed the grainfree. Good luck and Congrats on your new family member::) -Snick & Viv |
Dont give Nutro. They have had some quality control problems and dogs have gotten sick from eating that food |
