Puppy insurance HI, I have my 3 year old Toby insured with Petplan, but I am getting a new baby in a few weeks and love the idea of Banfield, but then read so many pros and cons, it got me thinking. Is there another insurance that covers all the routine care/shots/neutering for the first year? Thanks!!! |
Hello! I just signed my two babies up with Banfield. I put a post on here to see if anyone else uses it but no one responded. Would you mind telling me what the cons were you mentoined in your post? Thanks! |
I have VPI fot Toby. I pay $35 per month for their top plan and everything is covered. I just had Toby neutered w/bloodwork and they covered 100% of the cost which would have been $325. |
I had VPI for two years and was not happy with them. I just recently got Embrace lets see how it works out. |

I actually chose to go with Petplan for my buddy. I did a lot of research and I really only wanted insurance for the unexpected stuff. All the routine stuff I could handle but I just wanted to be covered if he got hurt and needed extensive surgery or got really sick and needed to stay hospitalized. I only pay $16 a month for mine and it even covers hereditary diseases. You can check with your vet about plans because mine offered a "puppy package" that gave me shots, checkups, and neuter for $300 for the first year. Also the package includes free stuff like nail clippings and anal expression. From what I have seen many insurances can be a waste of money because they either don't cover many things or reimburse at cheap rates. |
