Science Diet i/d I know Science Diet is a really bad food, and we do the all-natural food with Wellness...but I was wondering.... when they are sick and you have to do the boiled chicken and rice, is it okay to give it to them then? This is the 2nd time we've done it instead of cooking the rice and chicken and I just wanted to see what you guys thought.... |
I wouldnt give SD to Peanut. I dont think it will hurt them to give it, but its not a good food. What are you feeding? |
Science Diet is a bad food? Why/How is Science Diet a bad food?:animal-pa |
Well it has "corn" and bi products in it. Dog Food Reviews - Science Diet Nature's Best Puppy Original (Archived) - Powered by ReviewPost |
Yes, it is fine if you don't want to cook chicken and rice. |
I think it's ok. Its what my vet perscribes everytime Capone gets sick. It's really bland and it's prescription so I think it would be ok. My vet gave me 6 cans to go through this time so I'm still using it and will start mixing it with his regular food soon. The only thing I noticed is that he seems to be more hungry than usual when he's on it. |
I dont see anything with giving a prescription food when it fits the dogs needs. My vet just gave me some prescription food for my baby kitten. |
Yes its ok for feed I/D for intestinal problems. Its a good bland diet specially formulated for such problems. |
Generally dogs have allergies to poultry more than with wheat. I'm no fan of SD because it's just fillers and also has by-products. If you really want a healthy dog, and one that stays well, happy and cancer free, then home cook and also don't use flea & tick repellents on them. ;) |
Ok, that's what I was thinking. We only give it when he's been at the vet for an upset stomach and we didn't have time to cook chicken and rice. This is only the second time we've fed it, so as long as we use it rarely it seems like we'll be good:) Usually we feed wellness, but we're thinking of switching when Nala goes to an adult food. |
Tatum's tummy disagreed with the Innova formula change last Summer (a year ago) and the vet had her on Science Diet I/D while her tummy was upset. I see nothing wrong with that. |
I can't tell you how many different brands of dog food we tried, including raw, but they simply did not agree with my baby's systems (Mia). She always ended up with extreme diarrhea. Our vet put them on the Science Diet I/D and they haven't had any bouts of diarrhea since. While it wouldn't be my preference - it works for my little ones and I have to do what's best for them. We feed ours the dry kibble and give them treats like carrots, cottage cheese and apples. BTW - I don't know how it is everywhere else but you have to have a prescription to buy it here. |
