Yorkie getting car sick? Greetings folks. I've had my yorkie Gordon since Mid-August. He's a great puppy, though a little mischevious... But something still bugs me. The night we took him home, he was riding in my lap. Obviously, we figured he'd be scared leavin' his momma for the first time... But I had no idea that he'd puke all over my lap. I didn't figure it was a real problem. Until it happened again. So, I thought, next time we take him on a car ride, we won't feed him before. When we took him to the groomers, we did so on an empty stomach. He was fine on the drive up. A little shakey if anything. But on the ride back, sure enough, he vomited. Luckily, we had towels this time as a precaution. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to perhaps cure this problem. I don't want to carry towels around everywhere we go. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Usually they start to grow out of it...I wish you luck. |
I've had some that got carsick. I found that crating them, during the ride, helped. They did outgrow it. |

Might try the car seat though. |
:rolleyes:I would put him in a crate or buy one of these :D http://www.snoozer-dog-beds.com/Lux%...vy_herring.jpg One of the fellow YT'ERS told me about it and I LOVE IT It goes in the back and the seat belt goes under/in it so the car seat is attached and wont move, They have to wear a harness with it, there is a strap that clips on to the harness so they are safe in the car seat.. Peanut loves it too.. he is still getting use to it.. he will mostly just stand in it LoL I showed him that he can lay in it.. but he isnt too sure yet  He can see perfectly out of the window and I will roll the window down a tad so he can sniff some air!!:thumbup: |
I think that link is broken try this one. Pet Gear - Booster Pet Car Seat in Charcoal That is where I ordered mine as well, but I have the black medium one |

aww Gizmo used to get car sick when we first got him but after a couple of months he finally grew out of it. He isnt the fondest of riding in the car but he doesnt get car sick anymore and each time we go for a ride it seems he is slowly getting used to it more and more so hopefully he will enjoy it before long! :D |
Penny has always gotten carsick too. We are starting classes at PetSmart this Friday and it is a 25 minute ride each way, so I guess we will see if she gets over it or not. We did purchase some homeopathy for dogs that is supposed to keep them from getting sick, I will report back on how that goes too. We have to get her used to travel before we take her to California on a plane and lots and lots of car rides while we are there for two weeks. |
