low appetite on raw food while teething Culantro is 6 months old and has been eating raw food for 3 months already.. My problem is that lately, his permanent teeth are starting to grow, and he doesn't want to eat any chicken. He sometimes seems to have pain while playing with his toys (he is kind of rough with them).. Today I feed him canned food, but I don't know what to do to keep him in raw. He usually eats dices of raw chicken (neck, feet, thighs with bone) with a piece of chicken liver or gizzards, and sometimes he snacks cottage cheese with a piece of salmon skin inside the kong.. He doesn't like fish, but I hand feed him fish once a week. I've tried to add other meats (beef, turkey, pork ribs) but his stool turns loose, so I'm slowly adding variety. Any comments and tips on what to do to keep him in raw while teething would be appreciated. Thanks, Anel |
Have you tried Nature's Variety Raw Frozen? You thaw a frozen medallion or two (however many you need for the next day) out in the refrigerator over night, and then cut it up the next day for their breakfast and dinner...I can't imagine that they couldn't handle this?...It's very soft, no hard bones, and my Apple loves it...You can buy a trial size of chicken or lamb for about $4.99 and it's 12 medallions...Apple is 5 lbs. and I feed her two a day...I also give her a few pieces of cooked carrot, green beans, or small slice of apple w/her medallion to round out her meal... |
I too would recommend feeding pre-made raw (Primal, Stella and Chewys, Bravo, Natures Variety) if Prey Model is hurting his teeth. I know there are some Prey Model feeders on YT - so I wonder if any of them went through the teething stage and what they did during that time...? |
I could be mistaken but don't babies want to chew on things when they are teething.. hence teething rings? If that's the case maybe you could try freezing some of his harder toys or even giving some frozen recreational bones? We feed PMR but just started and mine are way past the teething stage. Good luck! |
