when is full grown? When are they supposed to be "full grown"? Bambi seems pretty thin. He's 2 lbs 10.5oz at 6.5months old. He doesn't eat much. So i'm just afraid he's getting too skinny. Am i just too overly concerned? |
Most dogs are full grown in size by a year but most people on here say they don't grow after about 7 months. :) |
I have always heard about 1 year,,but I think after 8-9 months they are done. |

Kelsey is almost a year and she has definitley stopped growing. She's been this size since 7 months. (about 9lbs) |
max will be 5 in Febuary and the last vet check last month he was 10 1/2 lbs. Last january he was 9 and the year before he was 7. He is not fat but he has filled out stocky. My Gidget is a tiny thing probably 5 lbs. She hasn't been to the vet lately. I was hoping she would get more weight on her. She doesn't seem to eat alot and is very petite. |
Just contacted my breeder. she said bambi may just be a slim dog. He is eating enough..oh well..i'll see My breeder said full grown is about 8 months... |
Chewy is a little over a year (13-14 months) and has gained yet another pound! He's now an 18 pound yorkie! woohoo! (I'm shooting for 20!) |
Some yorkies are what I like to refer as "bird boned" smaller and petite. I have one and for the longest time I was time I was really concerned that something was wrong as well. Waiting for the getting it for animal cruelty or something I can feel her bones. The vet reassured me she is fine. It is just her make up. Some will be a little stocker or muscular, just depends on the yorkie. I did end up 3 times a week add 1/2 teaspoon to her food to gain a little body fat. Since we did that for about 4 months (don't do this as a feeding routine for a extended peroid) she has filled out some and has kept the weight on.(she gained 8 ounces, which was just enough) I would never incourage you to try to get a overweight dog, as you are looking at health risks then. How much is eating a little???? If he is little he will eat little. If you are still concerned my advice is "ask the Vet" I know I ask my fair share of questions....lol |
