NV Raw Medallions I just got a small bag of NV Raw Medallions - I've heard such good things about them on YT. I have a few questions for anyone who feeds them, though: Does the raw food get stuck in their facial hair? I've never fed anything but kibble and have a 2 year old son - I'd hate for him to get a kiss from Daisy with a little something extra! Also, what does it do to their poop? Thanks!! |

Have to agree with Apple - there is never ANYTHING left!! LOL Zoe gobbles hers down and then looks up at me with those big brown eyes like "what - that's it?!?" I used the feeding chart on the NV site and for a puppy her size/age (she's 5 months and almost 3 lbs) - she gets 3 medallions a day - 1 1/2 in the morning and 1 1/2 at night. I alternate the proteins, also. We started with chicken, now she's on the beef. By the way she eats them up and licks the plate clean(!) I would say she loves both equally!!!:D Also, as Apple said, I think one of the HUGE benefits of NV raw is how tiny (and firm) their poops become!! |
I tried to feed them their first one this morning and Nick wouldn't have anything to do with it. Daisy took a chunck to her bed so I had to wash it. Overall it was not a very good experience. We will see what happens tomorrow. There are 12 in the bag so I guess I'll just keep trying it until they are gone. Any tips for getting Nick to try it? He smelled it and just walked away...didn't even touch it. :( |
How old is Nick? My 3 yr. old Jack Russell does the same thing...BUT...recently, I guess after seeing Zoe scarf them down, he's decided to try little bites! I still don't think he loves it. I have bought the NV Instinct for him, which is probably the next best thing. He LOVES the kibble. As for Daisy bringing it to her bed - trying breaking it up in little pieces (which then end up kind of smooshy) with a fork. Zoe, when she accesses Kramer's kibble, will take a piece and then run to her bed. But with the medallions, because she loves them and because they're kind of smooshed up, she just gobbles them down where she's at. Good luck! |
I would love feed the NV medallions but I think it would just get too costly for my 12.5lb boy. He LOVES the NV Instinct kibble though so we're sticking with this! Rotating between Rabbit and Turkey & Duck flavor. :) |
It certainly can get costly for larger dogs. Have you considered possibly feeding the medallions at one meal and kibble at the other? I know other YT members have mentioned that as a way to cut down on the cost. |

Well, my Daisy had another medallion this morning and it gave her diarrhea. And Nick still won't touch them so I don't guess they are going to work out for us. I hate to just throw them away, though. I bought the small bag, with 12 medallions in it. I have used two - if there is anyone in the Knoxville area that wants them, I'd be glad to donate my unused protions! By the way - they are lamb flavored. |
