car traveling anxiety, shaking, panting my 1 year old yorkie shakes, pants and yawns (all signs I've read about that are showing anxiety)when riding in the car. we are planning on driving quite a long distance to spend a month in a warmer state for a month and then drive back, at least 3 days there then 3 days back. has anyone tried a sedative from their vet for calming a yorkie down? what was it? did it work? Any help is appreciated. Thank you. |
Where do you have your baby ride? We use a car seat now, and I know that it is the safest place for these babies, but ours always rode on my lap, and I cuddled her. She still pants, but she loves to go for a ride. Maybe some short trips and to places where she may get a special treat when you arrive will help her get to feel better about the car. Mine would go to sleep in my arms like a baby when we went for long distances. Now she likes her carseat so that she can see out and bark at everything. You may try the booster seat to allow her to watch what is happening around her too. Anyway, these may be some things to try before you use medication. |
