Microchip ?? What is the average price of MicroChiping? What are your views on the subject? Just curious! |
I paid $20. Definitely a good thing. |
I paid about $30.00, (Home Again) but that included the lifetime registration fee, some have yearly fees, and you want to make sure that's what you want. I think it's great. I have skin kids, and the first thing I tried to teach them was their name and address. Joey's good with the address, but lousy with his name! :D Anyhow, it makes me feel lots safer having one, and if you travel much, it would seem very important. |
The breeder had the vet put a microchip into the scruff us Sydney's neck, so I got her already "programmed." It's Home Again. I had to then activate it online. I think it was $20. Syd's new vet scanned her neck for me one day and up popped Sydney's microchip code. I also have a tag on her ferret collar. The tag has her name, my phone number, and the word "Microchip" so people know to bring her to a vet for scanning. (The collar has a bell and the tag so we know where she's at, but we use her pink Buddy Belt for going on walks). |
I think that micro-chipping is a brilliant idea. I do not know why anyone would chose not to micro-chip their dog. I figure, any extra form of identification cannot hurt. If your dog is ever stolen, the micro-chip is the only way you can prove that they belong to you. |
Is this something they have to go under for? |

Seriously, I have Bogey and Doodlebug chipped for $20 each at the local PAWS with 24PetWatch. They have events every so often and I decided since I forgot when they were neutered to have it done I had just better take the time and take them get it done. I have seen way too many stories about lost pups on here to even take the chance. Pebbles would have gone along too but she high tailed it under the bed when it was time to get into the car  My foster Truman is also chipped . His was done when he was neutered. |
here in Masterton New Zealand we have to have our dogs chipped as part of the registration process but if the local dog patrol found a dog without its registration tag they put them in pound for 1 week before they are destroyed, they will not scan to see who owner is, so all dog owner here think its a waste of time if they wont scan a lost dog and my baby has his tag on his harness and he only wears his harness when we go out, fingers crossed I never loose him. |

Microchip I had my yorkie microchipped , Home Again,($35) when she had knee surgery, 9 yrs ago. It was put in at the scruff of her neck, but it moved under the skin to the side of her rib cage. It didn't stay at her neck, so it feels like a piece of rice right under where her harness is worn. Has anyone else experienced the chip moving about the body and getting stuck ? |
I personally dont like the idea of putting a foreign object in my baby and have read some things that are not so good about them. I think it would be irritating to have something under my skin thats not naturally supposed to be there so i think it would bug her too. Dont get me wrong it has its good parts too but I just dont want to take the risk of being one of the ones that something bad happens to because of it we seem to have that luck in my family. |
The microchip seems so cheap! I love it! and honestly? not sure how much you guys paid for your baby, but we got ours "cheap" because it wasn't standard (it's going to be bigger) and it wasn't was from a registered breeder. It still cost almost close to a $1000 Canadian and our baby came with papers. At that price, I don't want it wandering off for a small price of $20 or $30 identification that could save us from losing our little guy. I'll get it done when we get Derby neutered for sure. |
