For those that feed raw pre model? :confused:Hi everyone I have a 2 lbs 10 oz yorkie 7 months and have been feeding raw since he was 10 weeks. I am at home almost all the time and have never left him alone for a lot more than 4 hours. But I may have to leave him for 7 hours one day next week. I feed him chicken or beef like 1 1/2 oz at 11 am meat and bones a little and then 1 1/2 oz of the same at 5 pm and then like 1/2 oz at night like at 11 pm. If I feed him at 8:30 am 2 oz do you think that he can wait till 3:30 tp 4 pm in the afternoon? If I feed him beef instead of chicken is that a little better for him since he will be in his playpen for those hours? since is raw food I cannot leave it out and he does not like kibble at all, Since 10 weeks he loves he raw food.cannot leave kibble he does not like it. I have never had to leave him this long. But Do you think he will be ok for 7 1/2 hours? thanks mily |
Since he is still a puppy and weighs so little I would reccomend feeding more frequently if possible. Actually, 7.5 hours is probably too long for a dog that size of any age. Is it possible you can have somebody come by while you are gone and feed him a small meal? Franklin and Maggie only eat twice a day with about 8-10 hours in between but they are 9 and 11 lbs. |
Only you know your baby - I mean, does he get hypoglycemic or anything? If he is a sturdy little guy, even at 2.10, maybe he'll be fine. Otherwise, why not ask a friend, or hire a pet sitter for 1 visit? :) |
Thanks everyone for your responses. He does not get hypoglycemic or anything. At night I feed him at 2 am because I am awake lol then again at 11 am or sometimes 12:30 pm. So at night he does go 10 hours. I was just concern since I feed him at 11: 00 am then at 5 pm or so it will be too long if I feed him at 8:30 then at 3:30 or 4 pm. I was thinking of cooking a piece of meat without any additives and leave it out for him after I feed him his raw 2 oz. But the thing is he loves his raw food so much that I am afraid if I feed him 2 0z at 8:30 am and then leave the meat he will eat it then and not wait since he loves his food so much lol. I see if I can get anyone to come and feed him if i will be long. |
