Those who feed more than 1 dog raw Do any of you have a larger breed dog that you feed raw to as well? I have two dogs, my bull terrier who is about 35-40 lbs. I have looked on the raw calculator and figured out that my bull terrier would need 8.5oz. So let's say a patty and a half. The other half of the patty would be good enough to give to Lola since she only needs 2.3 oz per day. Lola is about 5.5lbs. So I called the store and spoke with the lady, she told me it's very expensive to feed raw but is a very good choice. So they sell 12 chicken patties of NV for 29 + tax. well 12 patties is really nothing for me I will be spending 60+ dollars per month to feed two raw diet? I don't know that seems like alot to me! I don't think I can afford to spend 60+ per month to feed both dogs. with taxes and treats I will be at around 100$ per month on food and treats. Right now I can get away with two 20$ bags of Wellness $40 and around 20$ give or take on treats per month. I really really wanted to give raw a try, I am contemplating on just doing Lola on raw, but I know the other will see and get jealous that she isn't getting the good stuff! I didn't ask about the medallions because she said those would just go to waste so fast with a larger dog. Unless they are cheaper and I buy one bag of patties and one of medallions and just give them raw once per day and then kibble too.:confused: Ahh anyone with any advice or input I would appreciate it! |
Maybe my math is horrible, but I think it would be well over $100 a month this way. If the big dog gets 1 1/2 patties per day and the small one gets 1/2 patty per day, that's two. If they come in packages of 12, you will need a new package every 6 days or 5 packages a month. 5x30=150. What did I miss? |
Could you feed Lola the NV raw and give your bigger dog "real" raw. I think you could buy meat on sale and freeze it for future meals. There is a thread on here where someone goes into detail how she feeds raw in an economical way. |

Yes I know it will be more then 60, I was just doing it rough in my head and looking at what I spend now and how much I would feel comfortable spending, I should of been more clear sorry. I am at about 60 now per month and I don't feel comfortable going over that. Thanks for the suggestion of feeding "real" raw, but then I would need supplements ? |
