how many times does yours poop? hey everyone, i was wondering how often do your babies go poop? my girl is small, 3.5 pds, she was eating 2 times a day and pooping 2 times a day morning and evevning.. now.. i started her on a new food, a better quality food and she's been eating pretty much throughout the day but mostly in the morning and night.. with this new food she's pooping 3 times.. how many times does yours go and do you think the new food could be making her go more because it's cleaning her system or something? thanks |
Sophie mostly poops 2 times, sometimes 3 but thats rare. She is on good quality food. I think thats normal for yorkies. |
I'm not too sure about whether or not the food change may have impacted your baby's change in potty habits. But I'm sure you will get some helpful responses. My Bella also goes approximately 2 times per day (normally once shortly after she wakes up and again in the evening). She is on Natural Balance Organic. |
all my dogs go once a day its really nice. its firm and doesn't smell it sure is nice when i have 4 dogs. |
Zoe used to go 2-3 times a day but when I switched to raw, she only goes once, sometimes less and it's very small too. |
i know its the food i feed them that helps with that. they are on primal raw and ACANA. i think pooping to much would be a kinda bad thing i used to feed them wellness and they would have nasty poops and would go like 3-4 times a day. if you just switched her food though that could be why see if she starts going less within a few months and if not try another brand of food you like see if it helps. i think dogs should go 1 to 2 times a day and their poop should be nice and firm even to struggle a bit to get it out to help them squeeze their anal glands of toxins for you don't have them scooting on your floor or having to take them in to the vet to get them squeezed.. |
My 3 go 2 x a day 1 in the morning and again in the late evening, some time after shots they may go 3 x. bark@ulater !!! manina, miley:aimeeyork, max:aimeeyork, sasha:aimeeyo rk |
thanks everyone for your responses... the reason i started this new food is because bell was on prescription food for a year that she has been doing well on but the ingredients are not so good. she has to be on a lower protein food because she had liver shunt which she had surgery for, but her liver's not perfect. so, i found a vegetarian food she actually likes!! and now... lots of poo!! i wish i could feed raw!! always wanted to unfortunately, not gonna happen for my girl. i think i'll keep her on this food for maybe a few months and see what happens. if anyone has suggestions for a low protein food let me know! thanks |
AWW! Sorry to hear your little Bella has the LS. Glad you found a good food for her delicate little system. My 5 go 1-2x day. That's still a lot of poo! |

If its something she does well on (and the amount is the concern and not the consistency) I wouldn't worry about it. |
yeah the food is similar to the NB veg.. it has lots of grains etc. it's called wenaewe. it's all organic and stuff.. the consistency of her poo is fine, you're probably right, to many grains.. this morning i gave her an egg with the kibble. i like giving her yogurt, eggs, cottage cheese, and chicken a few times a week, to give her some "real" protein.. i'm not used to her going so much! she's poo'd in the house about 6 times in a week!! that's not normal.. i'll try it til' the bag is empty, if she doesn't get on a routine, im gonna try something else.. thanks for all your input.. :) |

My dogs poop 2 times a day. :) |
Holy cow you guys..lol...I WISH my two only pooped 2x a day. OMG from the day I got Izzy I called her my pooping Queen and now Cosmo is our pooping King. Izzy is on The Honest Kitchen with steamed tiliapia and Cosmo is on NV raw and their Prairie. They BOTH go at least 4x a day I kid you not. Cosmo goes in the am when he gets up and then again after eating breakfast. Then around 4pm and then again after dinner. Same with Izzy and they only get fed 2x a day. So it can't be because of bad food because they are certainly on great food. |
