The part that concerns me is that some pet food manufacturers are lying about ethoxyquin being in their food....Some are getting around this question because the fish meal supplier put it on the meal before it went to the pet food manufacturer, since the pet food manufacturer didn't put in in there they can state they don't use it....:(

I did e-mail Solid Gold and am waiting on an answer.....I just might find a food on the safe list that does not contain any fish meal to be sure.....

Does anyone know about Nature's Variety? I don't see them on any of the posts as responding or being contacted. I know quite a few of us feed NV so I'd really like to know. I think their rabbit instinct has salmon meal in it.

Wondering about Solid Gold wee bits? Right now I feeding them Royal Canine and Nat. Balance duck&pot. Trying to find something with no chicken in it causes problems with bowels. I bought Nat. recipe turkey brand but they won't eat it. Solid Gold wee bits has no chick.but has salmon meal????

Never mind...I found my answer...they don't use it. Orijen is a great food but I have decided to go with Wellness CORE for my girls since the protien level is a little less.

I'm also wondering about Fromm's food. My girls love that one but I didn't see them on the list.

I was also wondering about Solid Gold, I feed it to my cats and it does contain fish meal.....The response from Solid Gold to the author of the article was conflicting....The Diamond Co, processes the food and they claim the DO use it but Solid Gold denies it.....

Solid Gold Pet Foods
Solid Gold responded quickly to my initial email stating fish meal is preserved with tocopherols. However, with further investigation, Solid Gold dry foods are manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods (confirmed by Solid Gold), and a representative from Diamond told me all foods manufactured by Diamond that contain fish meal, ocean fish meal, or salmon meal use an ethoxyquin preservative in the fish meal. This seems to mean that Solid Gold pet foods, despite their initial response to the ethoxyquin question, actually contains fish meal ingredients that are preserved with ethoxyquin. Three follow up emails to Solid Gold have gone unanswered; no response to the conflicting information.

I am believing that it DOES contain ethoxyquin...All of these other foods that are manufactured by Diamond have ethxyquin in it, so why would I believe that only Solid Gold does not?
