thryoid has anybody had problems with thryoid? if so what are some symptoms? and if you have to have it tested is there any one better time to do it than another? thanks alot |
Below are several links to websites that may give you assistance in defining the problem and medications that are available. Thyroid Diseases: Hypothyroidism in Dogs Thyroid Problems Care Of Your Hypothyroid Dog Hope this helps.......... |
My Wylie is hypothyroid, so he gets Thyroxine BID. Symptoms are different for hyper vs. hypo, as is the treatment. You can do complex 6-panel testing, or if you want initially, just test Free T4. What symptoms is your kiddo having? |

There is no better time to test than now. While they are testing, I would recommend that you get your adrenal glands tested as well and get tested for lyme disease. There are many, many diseases & autoimmune disorders that have the same symptoms.. your best bet is to research and study.. my experience has been the doctors are too overloaded with patients to have the time to research. Most, if not the majority will only treat you on your "numbers" rather than your symptoms, so you really need to be armed with plenty of information on the subject. Good luck and I pray for you that it is not a thyroid problem! |

oh and dd is 6lbs and she takes 1/3 of .1 mg two times a day one hour before food or two hours after food as soy and calcium bind with drug causing it not to work so it has to be spaced out from food and I use soloxine as prefer name brand drugs to generic as much safer since the bigger companies get audited and checked up on more than the smaller ones by fda as i have a client who works for fda and she told me problems come in the off brand drugs since they are not monitored as much and to always stick to the bigger companies for human and pets |

when doing a thyroid panel it has to be 6 panel by michigan state or jean dodds not just a t4free -- if the t4free is low then you need to investigate this further he is saying he will give her soloxine if it does not get better but it will not get better can you get a copy of the blood work and post the highs and lows as you should keep a file with all blood work and records at home in case of emergency so if after hours you give them your file as they will not be able to get a hold of your vet to get info so very important to prepared for the worst and hope for the best concerned this vet is not that great since he went right for a steroid shot in a little dog that is a huge whamy for a small dog and there are safer approaches to small dogs when using steroids like temarilp |
