Looking at the bag of food for serving size And our little one is not eating half of what the bag of food says, should we be concerned? She seems alright otherwise Also who leaves food all day and should we be taking it away after an hour or so (she is still a pup 4 mths old) Thanks in advance. Carol |
Kimbo is 4 months old too. We use Innova Puppy. The amount of food that the bag shows for us to feed him is the total daily amount of food. I divide that amount by 3 because we feed him breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I know a lot of YTrs free graze. I wish I could do that, but (and I've said this before) Kimbo would eat his weight in kibble if I let him! He's a 3 lb. piggy!! |
According to the lady at our local premium pet food store, they put those guidelines on the bag basically so they can sell more food. I thought that was pretty interesting. She told me that with a yorkie, I'd do fine to even buy the little 1 and 2 lb sample sizes since they should last longer than you would think. I thought that was pretty good advice. |
I feed my Sophie Royal Canin Puppy #33, and the package says that for her weight (2.5 lbs) and her age (5 mos.) she should be eating 1/4 cup... but she only eats 1/8 cup each day. She's SUPER active and full of energy, so I'm not too worried about it. I figure it's like people-- each dog just has a different appetite. |
