Comfortis Flea pill My Chloe' rarely leaves the condo. He makes on the terrace, and plays with me on my white couch. He's not a street or grass dog. I have him on Advantage which is very costly, does anyone know about this new product? does he need any flea and tick med's I have never seen a flea. He goes to a very nice Palm Beach Vet. but there is a limit to my madness.... Thanks Judie |
I use interceptor and advantage, but I have heard there is a new multi advantage that covers worms etc...as well. Mine don't really go out either except on the lanai which is screened in. I just use them on recommendation of our vet as a monthly preventative. |
I live in Florida and there are a lot of sand fleas. Comfortis is a life saver for us. |
Do not mix with heart guard and not for dogs under 5lbs |

Yes, thank you for Heartguard/Comfortis warning. I give Kimbo Heartguard and Frontline Plus. I've been waiting for him to turn 5 lbs. so that he can take Comfortis. I'll stick with the Frontline Plus. Thanks a million!! |
I won't use Comfortis because fleas are on the outside. This is the opinion of my vet as well (even though they offer it). Why would you take a pill on the inside for a topical problem on the outside. It would be like having an itch on your arm and instead of putting the hydrocortisone cream on the itch, you swallow it. Doesn't do a lot of good does it? |
I dont give any of my animals flea meds. I had a bad experience once. We have our yard sprayed every month through the summer and I dont let any of them go just anywhere. They get baths atleast once a week. The vet tries to get me to buy it, but I wont. Fleas are bad here in Texas but I have never had a problem. |
I live in FL and unfortunately flea prevention is necessary as it also protects against ticks. Lily is spoiled but we also have a big backyard they play in. It's treated too but there are just too many bugs here. |

People take Benadryl because of a reaction with the skin. It is not the same thing as having another living creature crawling on the outside of your body. If you had an ant on your arm, would you ingest the ant spray or put it on the ant? |
Either way it still makes sense to me. Giving your dog garlic (to injest) helps repell fleas. Why? Because your skin is an organ, the largest organ of the body, and what you put into your body effects your skin, thats why your skin looks better the healthier you eat. Same goes for what you put on your skin, it is absorbed and can effect your internal organs, which is why I don't personally use a lot of topical products, lotions with certain ingrediants, etc. People take a pill to get rid of toenail fungus, because your nails are made up of cells that are constantly regenerating. A pill can change the chemistry of the nail, or skin, or what is secreted through the skin. Its rather easy to see how it works. My vet says that she has had no complaints about Comfortis from anyone, and gets a lot of complaints about frontline not working. I personally hate all unnatural pesticides and wish there was a better way to control fleas. They are absolutly terrible in MI right now, and they are just becoming more and more resistant everyday. |
