? about peanut& eating
 
Peanut is on Innova Evo red meat small bites...he does well on it.. He is free fed..I will put 1/4 of a cup in his bowl and it takes him about 2 days to eat it..he never eats all of it in 1 day.. He is 2 years old.. He doesn't seem skinny or anything out of the ord ...but do you think that is enough food for him??

I was wondering if I should start making him eat more.. maybe putting some boiled chicken in his dry food or something like that. I dont have the bag so I am not sure how much it says that he should be eating...

I am open to any advice :D

That doesn't sound like enough food for two days. What does your vet say about his weight? As long as his ribs are sticking out he should be fine. Are you giving lots of treats?

Well peanut was just weighed in at 4 lbs... and he doesn't look skinny or un healthy. His ribs aren't sticking out either..when you pick him up you can feel that he is a healthy weight..( if you know what I mean) The vet said his weight looks good.. He does get treats during the day...everytime he pees on his pad he will get a treat.. But he only gets like a little crumb of a piece..I dont think that would fill his belly.. It just doesn't seem like that is a lot of food to me.. and I know he likes the food.. He has always ate like this so maybe it is just him...I don't know if I should just push him to eat more... Maybe at least 1/4 a day...

Maybe you can treat him with bits of his Innova. I do this occasionally when Zeus doesn't eat all his food.

Innova Evo red meat is very high in protein. So Peanut is probably eating just enough to satisfy him. Is he neutered? Neutered or spayed pets tend to gain weight, mine eat like piggies.:D IMO, I think an only Yorkie doesn't eat as much as he would if there were one or two or more.
If his vet says he looks good & he checks out ok, I wouldn't add stuff to his food to entice him to eat. He might start to not eat unless you add something, these guys are smart ya know! Plus you don't want to go overboard on the protein, these guys are small & 20something% of daily protein is suggested. Sorry, I don't remember the exact #, but Innoa red meat is 40+%. It's very high.

:D yes pnut is neutered.. hmm so his food has more high in protein so it fills him up...I was just thinking he wasn't getting enough food bc of how little he was eating..maybe that's why he doesn't eat a lot bc of the quality of the food he has...
