eating everything in garden! Hi, I have two 11 week old pups that have just started going outside. Alfie eats every leaf, petal and anything else he can find. I get most of them off him but he is definately managing to eat some too. My daughter and I are paranoid that he will choke on something. I have made sure that i do not have any poisonous plants. Should I stop him from nibbling everthing? |
Hi. Well my Dustie now 6 months old is just the same..will eat anything and everything that moves..flies or looks like it will fit in his mouth...:D But I have a patio area which he goes out on where there aren't any plants he can digest. He hasn't yet had access to the rest of my garden..as I am a bit worried about some plants and I just know he will make a beeline for them all. Have you anywhere you can let your pup out without being near to the plants? If not..then I am sure someone on here will tell you what to watch out for in the garden... Sorry not to be of more help...but if I were you I would keep taking things out of the pups mouth with a stern "No" letting him know that you disapprove .. Chrisann.... |
Hi, my Sammy does the same thing. he's 9 weeks old...I take him out into the front yard to use go potty because my roommate has a beagle and i don't sam walking around jas's "stuff" because Sammy doesn't have all of his shots yet. When i take him out to go to potty he makes a beeline for all of my flowers. he rips the hotus leaves out at the roots and carries them around like sticks. his favorite thing is the mulch, i take it away as soon as he picks it up but he just goes back for more. kristy |
Hi, I know this may sound weird, but i think that if you spray urine on the plants then he will most likely stop chewing them when he realizes that it doesnt smell good at all. |
I had the same problem, Lucky wanted eat everything what was on the yard  so i spray flowers and he stop eating ! But he is eating grass  |
The first year they eat nearly everything except nutritious food, and then they're all fussy about that. I wouldn't let them play in yard without supervision. Some things they just chew on and spit out, but certain plants can hurt them. |
