Has anyone had any complications with their microchips? I think my 2 year old Yorkie, Bunny, may have a problem. I have taken her to the vet they did a skin scraping and looked on the microscope. She has a bump where the microchip is and her skin got like a scab, she lost hair in little clumps (total amount of hair loss is about the size of a dime). I am putting Animax ointment on her. The spot that is bald turned a little darker, it looks like a bruise, but when u press down it doesn't hurt her. I just hope its not a complication with her microchip. So if anyone has any experiences with microchip problems or something like this please let me know. Also they checked for scabies & demodectic mange (excuse my spelling), and they didn't see anything but said it still maybe be possible.:confused::confused::confused:: confused: |
All of my dogs are microchipped and we've never had a problem. Has Bunny had any booster or rabies shots (or shots of any kind) lately? This sounds like a reaction to vaccinations to me. |

We didn't have a problem like yours but Adie's disappeared! They scanned her whole body in case it migrated but no go. I don't know if I should get her X-rayed or not. Skeeter's site swelled a little but ho scab or hair loss. |

When I got Zoey, she was already chipped. Where do they generally place them? She has a tiny bump on the back of her neck that wiggles slightly under my finger. Is that what they're like and where they usually put them? |
When I got my cat microchipped, he developed a lump that began getting bigger. His body reacted to the chip and he needed to go on antibiotics. He didn't have hair loss though, just a lump. The chip is about the size of a grain of white rice and gets injected in the area of the neck and between the shoulder blades. Anytime anything is introduced to the inside of an animal, they should be watched or checked often for reactions or problems. |

Update All of the tests they ran on Bunny were negative (mange, and skin scraping). The doc have decided it may be the microchip, so they are removing it on Tuesday along with a skin biopsy. I hope this clears it up. She is being sedated and they are using local anesthesia. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. :) |
