I've never seen a dog turn their nose up at them. I watch my dogs and you think they were on drugs the way the jump up and grab them out of my hand and run to hide somewhere and begin their chewing........

Entirely Pets does have a better rate than Revival does.....

i finally got her to chew on it for a while. I did soften it up a bit on one end and then i got her to play some fetch with it. for some reason after a few throws of fetch she decided she wanted to chew it instead of give it back. :rolleyes: we'll see if it continues tomorrow.

she's such a brat.

I became curious about these and googled them. Come to find out, they're made from rawhide. I don't give rawhide to my dogs and I've seen so many people recommend against it. Is there anything that makes these chews an exception?

Yes, they are made from rawhide, and I don't recommend rawhide. However, these are treated and processesed differently and an special enzyme is added to promote dental health.......They were highly recommended by my vet in Texas.....and I use to purchase them there, but found less expensive places to purchase them.....I've used the C.E.T chews and toothpaste for years.....

The unprocessed rawhide, pigs ears, etc. contain high concentrations of bacteria and can cause digestive problems.

i was never a huge fan of rawhide either but while these are rawhide they are made slightly different, like Mardelin said. Plus they are good for the teeth. With any chew type treat, (rawhide, bully, flossie, even rope) you need to supervise their chew time. Its always possible for them to break something off or swallow something. The thing i like about these C.E.T. chews is that she doesn't seem to be able to pull little pieces off. it just dissolves slowly while she chews it.

Mardelin, have you tried the CET HEXtra Premium chews with Chlorhexadine on them? If so, do your puppies chew these as readily as the regular ones?

No, I haven't. And here's the reason. My preggie girls love these things.....and I just don't use anything that has extra added chems in them...That and the added price of purchase 2 different products. The ones that I have stayed away from is the veggie ones. Evidently they processed or packaged in the usual plants an there was health issues associated with them.

I would love to try these for Laci is there any where to find out if there is a local retailer of this product?
I looked on the website but cant find it?? She is picky too so I spend a ton of money on things I just cant use...:rolleyes:

I couldn't find it on their website, either. Do you have a local feed/ag supply store? I just went to my local store's website & searched and found they carried it.

Try revivalanimal.com and I think on one of the posts someone mentioned another website and got a great deal.

Good point. I don't think that chlorhexie would do any damage but you want to be safe with your pregnant girls just in case. its a great antimicrobial antiseptic and used quite readily at the vets office in different forms and strengths. i'm not sure what strength is used on the chews.

i've never noticed them in any of the stores in my area. Bonbon has a store in her area that sells them so she's lucky.

i ordered them from EntirelyPets Discount Pet meds Pet Supplies & Flea Medicine and used a $5 coupon code so i only paid basically for the treats. I ordered the 15 count bag of the medium chews. they were $5 something... I ordered on monday and received them yesterday. Great shipping time!

I'm one of those people that attempt to keep everything as natural as possible on my breeding females and males.....no chems, no sprays, natural cleaning products. Probably overdo.....but, that's just me.

oh i agree with you and would probably do the same thing. I think you are an excellent breeder and only wish i lived closer so i could learn more from you first hand. you always have great advice and are always helpful. i respect you and your opinions a lot.

In comparisson (sp) to my breeder who has been in yorkies for close to fifty years, I've only been at it for 10. My knowledge is nothing....I've learned everything from her and others like her. Yes, I may do things a bit differently than she does, as she says I'm a bit anal, but she can't change me.

So while it is not the same name, I have purchased these at Petsmart. I have a bag of them and they are identical, even though they have different names. Instead of shipping, I bet your local (or sort of local depending on where you live) carries them. I couldn't find a link to the small dog size online but they definitely have them in the store. Here is a link to the meduim dog sized ones (wish I could show you the small ones)....
Petrodex Dental Chew Sticks for Medium Dogs - Health Care - Dog - PetSmart

They are made by Virbac but they are sold under the Petrodex label. Maybe they are cheaper.

I will add that Scooter liked these intitially but now prefers bully sticks. Bully sticks arent as good for his teeth but he is pretty picky. He will ocassionally enjoy one of these but not daily.
