Howe much is too much?! Hi everyone I'm sure there's a thread already out there on this subject I couldn't find it. My baby is 10 months old and I'm not sure how much to feed him at a time. The vet says he's at a good weight now but I'm afraid of over feeding him. Can anyone recommend how much I should give my jojo at meals? Thanks! |
What are you feeding him? How much? How many times a day? What are the feeding recommendations on the bag? |
The breeder I got him from was giving him pedigree puppy chow and I didn't wanna change it on him just yet. I feed him 1/2 cup in the am and 1/2 in the pm in the afteroon he gets a homemade peanut butter treat. |
I and the recommendations on the bag are 1/2 -1 cup for puppy up to 5lbs he's 4lbs right now |
I'm sure you're fine! Puppies need to eat more anyway in their first year! Just follow the recommendations on the bag! ;) However, personally, I'd switch foods asap. Pedigree is really terrible. It contains unknown meat sources, by-products, corn, wheat, soy, a bunch of nasty fillers that are not good for dogs. I was never one of those people who believed dog food could be THAT bad - but a lot of it is. If you have a Petsmart or Petco near you, Natural Balance, Wellness, Blue Buffalo are good choices. If you could find a specialty store, even a Pet Valu, I'd recommend Innova, Merrick's, Taste of the Wild, etc. Check out www.dogfoodanalysis.com for more info. |
I am a proponent of free feeding a quality food. I keep dry kibble out at all times. They can all eat as much or as little as they like. I use an All Life Stage Food so they can all eat the same thing, from my 5 month old puppy, to a 17 year old dachshund and 2 in between. All of mine are described as lean and healthy by the vet. I just donot think they should be rationed UNLESS they look like they are developing a weight problem. Then of course, a different route would have to be taken. |
