Orijen or Taste of the Wild
 

I think Toby has allergies so I want to try him on a grain free kibble.

I can source Orijen or Taste of the Wild in the UK.

They are both roughly the same price (almost $90 for 30lb bag).

Both seem to be popular, with Orijen leading the way I think.

I am concerned about the high protein in Orijen (I think there are still too many unanswered questions), so I thought Taste of the Wild would be a good compromise.

What do you think? Toby is 5 months.

I use Taste of the Wild for my 10 month old Roscoe and he LOVES it. He has been on it for about a month and a half and is doing great on it.

I'd vote for Orijen. :)

LOL, I was thinking about this the other day. If I spent half as much time worrying about what I ate rather than Jackson, I'd be a much healthier person. :p

I tried to make sense of all of this - and after reading the gov't documents released, it appears to me that the Australian Gov't required that the Australian importer "Resenance Marketing" approve the irradiation of the food in order for it to be released into the market after it was imported to Australia. It's hard to sift through..so I may not have it all correct...but that's my initial impression after reading some of the official documents.

I still wouldnt take the chance of feeding it to any of my animals...the bottom line is that cats either died or ended up seriously ill from the food...
take it as you wish.. feed what you want.. :)

They are both nice foods, but I would choose Orijen. The high protein isn't a concern unless your baby has kidney, pancreas or liver disease, but if you're uncomfortable with it, then I would say go for TOTW. It's a good food too. :)

I wasn't making a food recommendation in my Post #8 - I was trying to respond to the links which you posted. I don't feed kibble, but I do try to understand what's happening in the kibble industry, if I can (which is never easy :rolleyes:).

I saw the situation as this, using an analogy:

--Let's say I imported a bag of apples from Australia from Company A
--They arrived intact and in the form intended by Company A
--The US gov't tells me I can't distribute the apples unless I put this toxin on them first
--I put the toxin on my apples
--I distribute those apples, not telling anyone what I added to the apples
--Illness and deaths occur

So is it my fault, or Company A's fault? I guess it's a little of both -- it's definitely my fault, for the most part. But the missing link, which is tragic, is that Company A didn't (or wasn't able to, once exported) follow their product through to the point where it was publicly distributed.

I'm just trying to understand what happened...and I might have it *all* wrong. I'm just not sure the fault really lies w/ Orijen here...that's what I'm trying to understand, that's all.

I was only trying to interpret the links you posted. How did you interpret the 113 pages of documents?

Did anyone else understand the issue bc it's confusing...maybe it's just me...

I do appreciate you posting these links, btw. Staying informed is so important. :)
