Yorkie Wiping Bottom On the Floor? What is the reason for this? My puppy just started wiping her bottom on the floor today. Why is she doing this? |
Maybe anal glands? |
Not sure, but I always heard that this is a sign that they may have worms if they do this. |
Yes, it's most likely anal glands. You, your groomer, or your vet should be able to express them. |
Has she been wormed? How old is she? It could be worms, or clogged anal glands. I'd see a vet. :) |
Mine do it when they have poo on their butts. They leave poo streaks on the carpet lol |

Ewww, Madison has done that on the kitchen floor also:D |
I talked to friend just the other day about that same question. He called his Dad who is vet who said they do either to clean their butt or most likely they are trying to express the fluid in their anal glands because yorkies don't usually use it and sometimes builds up and gets clogged. He said to stick your finger in their butt and push on the gland. EWWW...so I just said I would bring them to the vet and them do it...lol..so gross.:D:eek: |
Toby did this too. The groomer checked his anal glands, and the tiniest amount of stuff came out. He did it for a day or two after and hasnt done it since. I think it was his glands |
Also, just to add to the other great ideas is to make sure the fur around her anus is trimmed...but not shaved too closely. |
Alfie does this but for him its more an act of defiance. When Rosie wants to acsentuate something is hers while playing she scrapes her feet on the floor- pretty normal-. But if you tell Alfie no, or theres something on T.V. he wants and cant get at and you say no, he looks right at you and drags his butt on the floor. He is one twisted dog. |
Maybe his butt just itches. Maybe there is poop attached and he is trying to dislodge it. |
Hopefuly it is just poop or anal glands, but if addressing those two don't work, time to think about worms  |
I know this is gross but I have to ask Zoie gets poo stuck on her hair almost all the time she goes and she freaks and cries and runs in circles but its not due to pain it hangs from her hair ???? Its out but in her hair and I have to bathe her to get all off!!! OMG!!! |
