Farmers Market Sweet Potato Treats Dooie LOVES these!!! He never likes anything....... not even people food (blueberries, apples, carrots) The only thing is that I have to cut them (I use scissors) into "Yorkie bites" http://www.naturalpetwarehouse.com/i...t%20Treats.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2169/...7c884fa9_o.jpg (Bottom picture is not the actual product but looks very similar) |
Looks like something mine would like |
I make dehydrated sweet potatoes here at home for the boys. Zeke is so picky he doesn't like anything. But Baxter thinks they are the worlds greatest. :) |
Both Charlie and Izzie love sweet potatoes.. They are on their best behaviour when they smell me baking them.. They will sit in front of the oven with a perfect show-dog stance and look at me expectantly evry few minutes as if to say "mummy is it done yet??" |

I just slice them into small bite size portions, spray some olive oil very lightly, bake them at a low temperature. I actually make them for myself, but as the ingredients are all natural I give it to my babies.. I tried using my dehydrator once and left the thinly sliced potatoes overnight. It was a great treat for the dogs, but I can't eat them myself when I'm feeling peckish, as it loses some of the taste.. :p Plus you can't beat the sight of those adorable sitting in front of the oven, waiting for their treat.. :D |

I haven't heard that olive oil is bad for yorkies, in any case i use a very small amount. I use this canned spray, and perhaps at most the sprays would dispense 1/4 of a teaspoon per batch of 3 sweet potatoes. The function is just to "brown" the chips and create a bit of a crunchy bite.. I have tried making them without the olive oil, and they like it fine, but i prefer it with the olive oil.. |
Cool, well I'll try making both tonight and see what we decide between the 2 of us.... Thanks again for the tips!! :) |
