Apartment flea fogger It says it prevents infestion for 7 months...so does that mean if Mya brings in a flea it'll die??? She is on prevention, but it isn't full-proof, sigh |
I would not use a fogger unless you have fleas in the apartment. You have be out of the area for several hours and then residue if everywhere - I would be very worried about a furkid getting this residue on their paws and licking it off. There are so many chemicals used in flea prevention that have proven to be deadly, especially for little dogs. |
I agree, unless you have a flea problem, you don't need to use the fogger. Years ago, we bought a house that was infested with fleas as they previous occupants had out door cats. My 2 kittens were only 6 mos old and got so badly infested that we had to dip them 3 times! If you are infested, it is recommended that you fog 1x then 7-10 days later fog again as the larve start to hatch then. And for safe measure I did it a 3rd time. It was terrible, I got many, many, many flea bites as I am susceptible to bites of any kind any how. But again, you do not need to fog for preventative measures, only infestation measures. Flea foggers make fleas flee........... We owned a house that had a terrible flea infestation. We learned that if you use flea foggers it only kills fleas on surfaces it lands on and usually doesn't contain an IGR. So, fleas will literally flee to behind baseboards, under furniture, etc. and just multiply there. In addition, fleas are becoming immune to the most common spray ingredient pyrephrins. You'll save a lot of time and money if you find a professional who uses an IGR (methopryne), contains a bait that draws them out of hiding, as well as an ingredient that kills adult fleas in the area where you live. A good professional will also tell you the other things you can do inside and out to prevent problems. |
