Evo I feed Mason Evo I was told it is great for them and hughly digestable...Is this food ok for my baby? Anyone have any info that Ive missed? Thanks :) |
Evo too I use Evo too. I mix a little of this and a little of that. THey get Evo added to Royal Canin, or Royal Canin added to Nature's Variety as their Kibble, or, now I sometimes use Natural Balance Vegetarian as their kibble portion, then to one of these kibble mixes, I add either a canned or raw proportion, (usually 1 oz per day). I have a lot of mixing going on. I wonder what the difference would be if I gave them steak as their meat mixed with Kibble instead of canned or raw? I plan on giving them one meal a week as totally vegetarian, it's the least I can do as a strict vegetarian myself (I feed twice per day). Joey |
Followup Forgive me for responding to my own posting, but both boys got diarrhea. I don't know what food caused it. They had their first green beans yesterday too (only one each). It was the second day of raw food, so I don't think it was that. Maybe just too much variety at one time? I think eventually, they will get used to variety, but they are still pretty young (9 1/2 months and 15 months). My maltese got to where she could eat just about anything without getting diarrhea. Thank god they went on their pee pads! Joey |
I've been reading up on feeding a raw diet and am seriously considering doing this for my pup. I don't know if I would feed completely raw, I would probably still leave kibble out for her during the day.... But when you guys say "raw" do you actually mean a hunk of raw steak, or are you using those pre-packaged raw dog foods (i.e. Natural Balance, Nature's Variety, etc). Would feeding this type of food be as beneficial as a raw steak? (Although I'd imagine it'd be better than 100% kibble, right?) Does anyone feed their dog only these pre-made raw foods? |
The raw food from Nature's Variety seems to be just that - raw frozen meat. I learned a very valuable lesson - do not microwave it, it stinks to high heavens. If this is human quality, I pity the poor human. Joey |
I feed my two yorkies raw only. Cornish hens and puree vegetables. Well, they do get organic natural training treats that are not raw. It is my understanding that dogs cannot digest veggie and fruit cellouse, which is why you should puree veggies and fruits. I started raw about 5 months ago when my JD was diagnosed with a bronchial infection, which is an indication of a weak immune system. He is doing great on the raw diet and loves it. Addie came to me at 9 months old and very skinny. She too loves raw and is looking great. |

Well at Bone Appetit (the boutiwuer I work in) we sell both those first two foods and we have had nothing but incredible responces from both the Evo AND the Nature's Variety. And most people feed their babies that way as well. Dry food in the morning and Raw in the evening. And you can adjust it to your lifestyle however it works for you. And BRAVO on trying the raw! It's a wonderful, wonderful way to feed your pets that is very low on causing allergies (as is the Evo), if at all. I'm always happy to see more people feeding their babies either one of those foods! |
