Dehydration?!?!? I have 2 yorkies, a 7 month male and a 1yr 1/2 old female. When I got home from work I took them out for a walk and they were both walking and playing until about 3 hours ago when I discovered watery stool on the floor. I thought it was from the lil one so I cleaned him up and took him out. I came back in and the female was vomiting clear yellowy fluid and also had diarrhea. Then the male was vomiting his food from earlier and had watery stool. I gave them both a bath and its been about 3 hours and the female seems to be dry heaving now on and off. The male is running/barking/playing while the female is laying around upset. I called the animal hospital and they said to watch them and give them boiled chicken/rice/hamburger. Is there anything else I should be doing for them?? I believe they might be dehyrdated from the heat. Any ideas? :animal-pa |
You could try ice chips. I would watch them and call your vet in the morning. Hope all will be ok. |
I hope so too, Baylee (male) has ben okay so far but Bella (female) has vomited/dryheaved a few times and she is just laying around very upset and she is the hyper one out of them two so I know she is not feeling well.. I am so exhausted, I want to sleep but I'm afraid if they get worse over night and I dont notice... |
Hmm, what worries me is that they are both sick. Do you really think it's dehydration? I hope it's not something serious. Please update when you know for sure what it wrong. Sending positive thoughts that they are OK soon. |
Bailey seems to be ok today, he was fine overnight and slept all night. Bella on the other hand was up most of the night walking back and forth and would only lay on the floor. I woke up to her vomiting and dryheaving again a few times. I had to go to work so I left her in the bathroom with water and food, a blanket, toy and I will be checking on her at lunch. If she doesnt get better by later I will be taking her into the vet. She did drink some water this morning, but her nose was dry and I know that usually means the are upset or sick. But I will keep everyone updated. Thanks!! |
Will kept u in my prayer Since both r sick , r u sure they didn't get into something outside or in the house ? I would take them in to the vet just to be safe and do the chicken both, to see if they will keep it down. Pls keep us posted. Lot of ice water, I even take some with me when we walk. Good Luck! bark@ulater! manina, miley:aimeeyork, max:aimeeyork |
Definitely try the ice water and/or pedialyte. If she isn't eating or drinking much, you need to make sure she's getting enough electrolytes to keep her going til you can get her to the vet. When Stella won't drink her water for whatever reason, I usually just give her a bowl of ice cubes, she loves to play with them and usually licks them a lot in the process--so it's better than nothing! |
