How long does it take for... flea prevention medication to kick in? I put some on yesterday at around 4pm then around 8pm I was still seeing fleas so I then sprayed her with some spray AND now this morning I still see them. |
If it's Frontline, I think it says it on the box. It's a 98% kill rate in 24 or 48 hours (I forget). Give it a bit more time. What product is it that you were using? |
What did you use? Please be careful using multiple products on your yorkie. |
Zodiac my vet is asking that I come in this afternoon because she thinks it may not even be fleas but sounds moreso like ticks  she also wants me to STOP with all the products and frowns upon the Zodiac:confused: |
Yes, just Google Zodiac. Frontline Plus and Advantage are safer for flea treatment. |
Have you bathed her in any kind of flea soap? I heard that Dawn Dishwater liquid is good and also the old Ivory bars of soap will kill fleas that are on them. I would be leary of using any more flea meds if you have already applied so much already in a short period of time. Your vet should help you with that. There is a capstar treatment that will kill the ones that are on there now but not sure if they can use that after all that you have put on her already. Good luck! |
Dawn was the first thing I used on her but it doesn't repell I feel so bad now I just wanted them off of hr and now to think it may not even be fleas makes me feel even more horrible |
I don't know if it's been dry up there in Maryland, but before we started getting some rain about a week or so ago, it hadn't rained in weeks, and the fleas were OFF THE CHAIN!!! I used frontine plus, on Apple, and I put borax down on the carpet, and got, totally, rid of them in the house, but as soon as she'd go outside to do her business, she'd get some on her...It won't stop them from getting fleas, but the frontline will kill them, after they bite the dog...So as long as there are fleas in their enviornment, whether it be the house or yard, you'll see fleas on the dog, but they will die after they bite her...Sad that they still have to get bitten, but, at least the fleas die, before they reproduce...Btw, I treated the yard, watered it in, and I still have fleas in the yard, just not as bad...I can't WAIT till winter, and I hope we have a really hard freeze, 'cause that's about the best remedy for the yard....Argh, I hate these suckers  |
yeah we just got some much needed rain last week my hubby bought some stuff for the carpet AND a flea collar for the vacum bag |
