Help with Baxter's leg please! Last night we were walking and Baxter was behind me so I don't know exactly what happened but he yelped in pain. When I turned around his back left leg was sticking straight out and he couldn't put any weight on it. He hobbled about 20 feet then put it back down and started running around again. Can anyone tell me what might have happened? I know little dogs sometimes have hip problems. Could it be that? Might it happen again? Help please. |
Maybe he took a wrong step and just twisted it somehow. I'd just keep an eye on him to see if it happens again. Glad to hear that he recovered so quickly. |
Maybe he got stung by something in the grass and reacted that way to the sting. If he put it back down in such a short time and is walking on it I would think he's fine. Maybe he got a cramp? Can dogs get cramps in their legs like a Charlie Horse? As long as he is fine then all is well. I'm going with a sting from something in the grass. Times like these is when I wish they could tell us. |
Could it be he has loose knee caps and it popped out for a minute and then went back in? My girlfriends Cavalier does that sometimes. |
Husband talked to vet and he thinks it is the kneecap. Good call Patti! He's going to check in the next time we go in for grooming. He says it is fairly common in small dogs. |
