Prescription for meds cheaper from petmeds???
 
I have to take Pebbles to the vet tomorrow for her annual and shots. :( I need more intercepter for my 3 and was wondering if it is cheaper to get it from "petmeds" or not.

I also found frontline Plus cheaper from "thrifty vet" has anyone gotten anything from either of them??

Our vet advertises that he matches petmed prices. Might ask your vet to see if he will too. Makes it more convenient and our vet feels better because he knows you are getting the meds. He also said he worried people were not always getting quality or up-to-date meds online. Did not mention any specific website, just that some sold inferior products.

I went to their website once and was shocked at how expensive Heartguard and Frontline was....it's actually cheaper to purchase from my vet!

Have you tried a low cost vaccine clinic? I was at the pet store and there was one there one day and I got Heartgard for an entire year plus a heartworm test for $37. That's cheaper than just the heartworm test alone at the vet! Advantage was like $60 for 8 months. Compared to $90 at my vet.

My vet offers the same policy. They will price match any website :)

Thrifty vet has frontline plus 6/42.99...12/78.99 I paid 75.99 for 6 the last time I bought it.

Dr Foster and Smith has intercepter 6/23.70...12/47.40

i usually get the prescription at the vets and order from Entirely pets...
This year the vet is advertising that he will be price matching any of these online places...
Good for me, i will be getting all my refills from the vets.

I have used pet meds before and it was cheaper than the vet. However, according to your comparison, entirely pets is cheapest.

The one vet that I worked with would compare petmeds prices, however, some people are unaware that you still need to have a RX from your vet to get those medications off of petmeds.com. ;)

I purchase mine from Aussie Pet Direct The product is identical and even with shipping is the cheapest I've found.

This may be just a ploy to keep me from buying online, but I was told that pet medications purchased from the internet may actually be counterfeits manufactured in China with diluted products. BCA

Very true!! Also, if your pet has a reaction, are you going to call the online pharmacy you purchased the product from--or are you calling your vet?? This is one of the reasons your office call, exams and other services will be increased. The vet clinic I worked at in MS would try to get as close without us losing money--the place I applied for here said no way, we don't price match and we don't fax or phone verify any info, you want it-you come pick up the prescription and then you figure out how to get it to the company. I understand that the economy is tight, but this goes back to--researching and making sure you can properly take care of your pet before purchasing it. Also, some of the pet insurances will cover these medications. Buyer beware for all these online companies.
If you are talking flea meds, okay--they might not die if they pick up a few fleas--but the damage heartworms do is irreversable, even when treated.

I agree it just isn't worth the chance..............in the long run could end up costing alot more money and heartache! :eek: My babies are worth the little extra!!!

I guess it is possible but if you get from a place with good reviews.
We had used vaccines, and meds from 800 pet meds, Entirelly pets and Revival.
No complaints.

Entirelly pets once sold me a bottle of antibiotics.. or something else , almost expiring, about 2 weeks to expire, i complained and they sent me another one at no cost, it must have been antibiotic as i started the bottle and they told me to not even bother returning it just throw away and keep using the new one.

keep collecting info , it may help you feeling more confident.

I would not buy from a pharmacy on another country ... that is my opinion.

I've bought my contacts from the internet based out of Canada.

A way you can circumvent meds with a close experation date is when ordering (I do it over the phone because of this), and Revival and Dr's Foster & Smith request that you do this, is ask for the experation date on what they are shipping you.

I only by from my vet. God forbid something happens when you give the meds, if purchased from your vet then the pharmaceutical company will help with costs. If you purchase from a third party they will not.

Plus i like having the piece of mind know that the products i buy from my vet are coming directly from the Pharm company and not from who knows where.

Good point too, it is better to be sure than sorry !
If i am nervous about something i usually don't do it.
