Help - anal gland problem My Izzie has a problem again with one of her anal glands being clogged. This is the 3rd time in 5 weeks. She won't lie still to sleep - she is up and moving around all night and she keeps looking at her bottom. She does not scut on the floor though. Is this how they act when it is an anal gland problem or could something else be going on. Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening so frequently. |
I take Bobby to the vet every 3 to 4 weeks to have his glands expressed. I can tell when it needs to be done when his bottom starts to have a bad smell and he bites at his tail. He also sometimes leaks on me ewwww! lol. |
I have not noticed an odor when Izzie has this problem, she just keeps looking at her bottom and will not sit still. I took her to the vet today to have a tooth pulled and he checked her glands and said they were fine. She has to take clindamycin for 2 weeks following the dental today and he said see if that might help with the other and to call him in 2 days to let him know. I guess I'll just wait and see. She gets really stressed if she has a flea. I haven't noticed any on her but I quit using the frontline because I read some negative feedback about it. I flea comb her and maybe I missed one. |
