What Are Some Healthy People Food Treats for Yorkies? I am wondering if there are "people foods" that are safe for my Teacup Yorkie. I see pumpkin mentioned and was wondering about things I could use instead of treats from the store that have preservatives and additives. Any ideas you could share would be wonderful. Thanks! |
My yorkie Baxter absolutely loves those baby carrots! He can't eat them fast enough. I think I have heard of people giving theirs peeled apples also. Hope this helps. |
i use organic chicken from costco cook for 40 min on 350 and chop it up in a baggie and put in fridge -- i do every 3 days and it is safe and they love it |
Hi, mine are not teacups but since they were little puppies have always loved white chicken cubed (as previous posted said), Sweet potatoes, apples (no skin), green beans (lightly steamed), blueberries, spinach, cheerios (the plain ones), plain organic yogurt (nothing with artificial sweeteners) and tiny pasta. I usually have these things on hand for my parrot, and make stuff for the dogs at the same time. The sweet potato is a favorite - I make it in the microwave and then let it cool and cube it (no skin) and keep it in a tupperware for them. They love it cold even. |
oh yes, I forgot sweet potato. We dehydrate it and Baxter LOVES it. Zeke doesn't like them, but Bax thinks it is heaven! |
Maddie LOVES baby carrots, blueberries, even a little shredded cheese every now and then! Also, there is a sticky in this Forum that lists Dangerous Foods for Yorkies you may find helpful too.:D |

I give Beckett frozen cut green beans. He plays with them until they thaw and then eats them. It's good for his teething too. |
Yorkie Treats Little pieces of meat or dried liver, cheese,Cheerios,Nutro Puppy Drumstick, dog biscuits, little pieces of apple and carrot.Of course, everything will have to be little,LOL, The best treats are the fresh ones. Yorkies love a bit of yogurt, a bit of cottage cheese. Dogs love protein and fat. -Madde:animal36 :D We are not to feed our yorkies those greenies treats!!!! |
Fruits and vegis, fresh uncooked organic. Obviously check for toxicity to dogs like grapes raisins onion ect but mine all eat raw furits and cegis daily. |

Mine love the thin slices of swt potatoes. Don't have a dehydrator but I put them in the oven and leave on around 225 to 250 degrees for 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. This is a favorite treat for them and healthy! Then I freeze them. |

Buster's new favorite treat is chickpeas/garbanzo beans. I read they were good to give in a Fetch magazine article. It states that "their soluble fibers help maintain healthy bood sugar levels, keep your heart and arteries healthy, and promote proper digestion. These beans may also help protect against cancer and are excellent antioxidants." I have started eating them myself. I find the organic canned with the least salt then I rinse them a couple times and store them in water in the fridge. The article also says sweet potatoes, quinoa, carrots, broccoli, celery, apple, and banana are great treats as well. |
Take pumpkin and plain yogurt mix ir together and freeze. Yummy healthy and lasts a little bit. Also peanut butter is good. Freeze it also |

Yorkie "people" foods Our Graysee loves watermelon, apples, oranges, carrots, raspberries, blueberries. In moderation, of course, and definitely NOT the apple skins or seeds, or watermelon seeds, and I only feed her sectioned NAVEL oranges (no seeds there, either!) I won't give her blackberries. But she does also like pears (of course, w/o skins). :animal36 |
