Fleas help!!! [B]I put Frontline on all of my babies a little over a month ago, just to be safe. I had never seen a flea on any of them, but I had noticed little black dots on Tenci's and Chip's belly. I thought they just needed a bath from playing in the yard. I would bath them, and a small bit of the black dots would still be there. Tenci's hair started falling out and breaking off a couple of months ago, but the vet said all of her blood work was fine so I didn't think about it- Okay fast forward to today- I was holding Chip and I seen a Flea- A big Flea- It ran down his belly and into the hair around his tail. I tried to catch it, but it got away. I started freaking out and telling my son. I held Chip up again and seen the same Flea or his twin brother do the same run as before, down the belly and into the hair beside tail. I noticed Chip has those little black dots on his belly again too, and so does Tenci, but the other three do not. Trouble and Pee Wee have puppy cuts so seeing a flea would be easy on them, but Gus has longer hair and no little dots on his belly. Tenci's hair is longer but thin where it has been falling out. Chip has the thickest hair I have ever seen. He has more hair than I do. There could be a entire town of Fleas living in his hair for all I know. Well I put Frontline on him a little while ago. I just had one tube here. Is it possible for just him and Tenci to have Fleas? What are those little black dots? and what do I need to do to get totally rid of these FLEAS? and could they be the reason Tenci's hair has been falling out? I know this is alot of questions, but I know some of you guys have answers! Thanks so much Sally Ann:animal-pa |
not sure we use comfortis on our yorkies that's over 5 pounds never had a flea and we give it to them during a meal. so as for as front line i'm not sure |
If all you're dogs are with each other, it's more likley they all have them. Yuck. Those littles spots you see just might be flea dung. Nasty. Get some Dawn dish detergent. Lather them up, watch their eyes, no soap there. Leave it on 3 minutes and throughly rinse, get all the soap off them. The fleas will go down the drain. Gone. BUT you may need to repeat it because now you have to rid the fleas from your house. Yup those little creatures hide everywhere. You can get a flea defogger, they are good but you have to keep everyone out of the house, including doggies for, I think, 2 hours. Maybe it's all changed, but that's what I remembered. Good luck |
I just posted a natural recipe on a thread regarding fleas...Another member posted this quite a while ago...I saved the recipe....just did this this morning...if you look through the threads you may find it. Also,....my Mom called a Holistic vet....he told her to take 15 drops of peppermint oil to 1 cup of water...put it in a small spray bottle and shake it up...do not spray directly on the animal...spray a rag or towel and rub it on the dog...especially the underside,,,under legs, on belly and neck area...and on the back...kinda like you are drying her off after a bath...I just spoke with my Mom...she is in Maine right now the the mosquitoes are not nice up there!! She used this on Callie and said it is working!! It also repels other biting insects including ticks...I say it's worth a try and it's NOT chemicals...I am on my way up there wednesday and going to try it on the girls...they don't have fleas but, I am also worried about ticks and the other nasty little biters up there. |
