Help! Stinky breath! Ok so Bella is just about 4months old and and her breath is starting to smell. When our boxer was her age his breath did not smell at all. Is this a common thing with yorkies? My other yorkie Lucky has fish breath, I don't know why? I brush his teeth about 5 times a week, I've changed his food, and even tried the greenies. Is there something minty out there that works, or a pill, or something? I love getting kisses from Bella, but I don't like the stinky smell. As for my Lucky, I feel bad cuz I don't even let him lick me anymore. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! :D |
I use "Dental Rinse" from Petsmart, it works wonders on mine, 8 yr. 1 1/2 yr and 6 yr. with soon to be 2 more. You mix it in thier drinking water, they can't taste it as far as I know, or smell it. I started using it @ a year ago and they never seemed to notice. It took about a week and all the stinky breath was gone, and my older ones had severe "fish breath", it would knock you over! :eek:I mix 4 tablespoons to a gallon of water and keep it in the frig. |

Please check your baby's teeth. It could be that a baby tooth is almost ready to come out and food is getting trapped causing a bad smell. Also bad breath can be a sign of an upset stomach, although you don't indicate that there seem to be any health concern. |

I agree with the others, my puppy had a skunky smell . When I took her to the vet , he said it could of been a tooth infection . |
Your not the only one. Roxie is a little over 2 years old and has always had stinky breath. She had her baby teeth pulled when she was spayed a long time ago. Still stinky. I give her ziggies and these new things I got called breathies. She loves both of them. Doesn't help much lol! She will have nothing to do with a toothbrush, going to try the finger tip one that everyone here has talked about. |
Thanks everyone! I know Lucky could use a teeth cleaning, but his teeth have gotten so much better since I started brushing 2 months ago ( i didn't know we had to brush their teeth. Ooops!). I just checked Bella and her teeth are nice a strong. She still has all of them and they aren't loose at all. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks, good to know! |

hi my baby roriee has gotten the worse breath i have ever smelled.. i can even smell it when she is sleeping on my lap.. i wash her face and try to get her to let me look in her mouth but, omg she fights me like crazy.. she is only 3 lbs, and when she goes in fight mode no way can i get near her mouth.. i have tried the finger method.. toothbrush method, and the q-tips that have fluid in them, you break off one end then rub their teeth with the other end.. no go.. and this breath is enough to knock you down.. it just got bad about 2 weeks ago and i am at my wits end.. i tried the stuff you put in the water too.. its not working and i even tried squirting it directly into her mouth like the instructions say.. when do they loose their baby teeth? she is 6 mos old now.. and also when do they go in their first heat? LOL she is my first female dog.. i have had males but not any females.. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks randi |
