Heartgard Has anyone had a problem with giving using Heartgard for their small puppy? Is there something else I can use that will give my baby the same protection? |
Heartgard is pretty safe but I and many other small dog owners prefer Interceptor. |
We use Interceptor. The heartgard upset the tummy on my little one. |

Interceptor is made by Novartis and its active ingredient is milbemycin oxime. Heartgard is made by Merial and its active ingredient is Ivermectin. Heartgard Plus adds Pyrantel for intestinal worms, so it is the one that is comparable to Interceptor. |

I "think" it is chewable but Ellie swallows it whole. It is a very small pill. Your vet can write a prescription and you can take it to another vet who carries it in your area. You can also order it online with a script but that can be questionable because of all the counterfeit products out there. |
Are all puppies suppose to be given these products? The vet never mentioned it for Bailey, should he be taking this?, I have no idea! |

Some areas don't have a big problem, so sometimes it isn't given although if there were any cases at all, I'd probably give it. |
