natural choice dog food my boyfriend and I recently got a border collie and am wondering if natural choice is okay...we we want a decent food but somehting still aceesible from where we live..bailee is on a high quality food but considering she is only four pounds,it is very affordable...this dog will be much bigger so although we want a decent quality but it does not have to be the highest...any thoughts are appreciated...thanks! |
My friend has a beagle and that's what they feed her. She likes it alot and it's still a quality dog food. And not too expensive for their budget. |
Natural Choice as in Nutro Natural Choice? Or Natural Balance? Nutro I would stay AWAY from. I've heard too many stories of dogs dying on that food. However, Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance is a good food and found at Petsmarts and Petcos, etc. |
I have fed my dogs over 12 yrs Nutro Natural Choice & Nutro's Holistic food, it is all natural, their are no chicken by products or dyes which might contribute to allergies, they have been in the business of pet food for over 80 yrs. My dogs and cats are healthy and happy. I would not cut down a product that you know nothing about. Nutro stands by their product. |
I used to work at Petco and everything I've heard and been told says that Natural Balance is the best food formula for medium-large breeds. We had so many breeders and trainers rave about how healthy it kept their dogs. Since it's not one of the more specialty organic foods, it'll go on sale sometimes at Petco or Petsmart too, so that will make it an even more affordable option. I would try it out. |

Originally, I was like... no, it can't be THAT bad. I fed it to my dog for a few weeks but after reading just one too many horror stories... I think it's best not to feed it. I've done my research in dog nutrition, and while no expert, I currently work selling dog food so I feel I know a little about dog nutrition as I've had to do my fair share of studying. I personally feel there are WAY better foods out there than Nutro with much better ingredients. Nutro contains not enough meat for my liking (or my dogs liking) it's got some controversial fillers that I'd rather stay away from and it lists unknown fat, meaning it could have came from anywhere. I don't like having any kind of meats or fats that don't list where they came from. There's just a few mixed quality ingredients that I'd rather stay away from. |
If you mean Nutro, I would absolutely not feed it. It seems to be causing way too many issues (see Consumer Affairs) and the company would have to do a lot more than they are doing for me to trust them. Natural Balance is fine. If I had a larger dog and wanted something a bit less expensive, I'd look into NB and Science Diet Nature's Best. |
I use California Natural dog food the chicken and rice. I have had no problems with it and it is the only kind of food Pixie doesn't throw up. I looked it up and dont see any bad things about it... |
I would never feed Nutro. Natural Balance has a decent food called 'Ultra Premium Formula', otherwise you might check out Healthwise and Evangers. They seem to run about the same price range. |
