Flea Collar ickypoo So. Jasper had a little incedent. He got a tick on the inside of his eye and we couldnt find it. He was unable to walk, shking, crying. It was heartbreaking. So off to the vet we went. They kept him over the day, and gave him meds and found the tick! They sent him home to us with a flea and tick collar. Since then he has acted odd. He whines, always needs to be held, and only wants to be around or come to me at night. During the day all he wants is my pawpaw, and cowers from me. It hurts me to see this. I took the collar off because with it on, he had no energy at all, even to just go outside. Anyone have any ideas on what this could be? How to fix it? |
What brand was the collar? In general the collars aren't recommended. Have you tried Frontline or Advantix? |
I personally would not put a flea collar on my dog. I think you are right in taking it off. I have seen too many adverse reactions from them in small dogs. |
Flea collars can be very dangerous. They are very outdated. I can't imagine why your vet would recommend one when there are so many good flea preventatives on the market today that are much safer. |
I'm wondering if it was the Preventix Amitraz collar by Virbac. I wouldn't recommend a collar for fleas but sometimes the spot-on products aren't great for ticks. I would think that Advantix would be fine though and I would choose that over a collar. |
