I just feel sick Bailey hasn't had a bad poop in days, I took him to the vet on the 25th to get his shots and she wanted to wait because of the problems he had previously with soft, sometimes runny poop that had blood mixed in. His last poop sample only showed that he had roundworm. With his poop being normal for days now, I felt sick waking up this morning and finding runny poop with some blood in it. I don't know what to think. I will have to drop off another poop sample at the vets to be tested again. I am just so worried about losing Bailey. He is a perfect little baby, with a healthy apetite, loves to play, all the normal stuff except this problem with his poop that seems to come and go.:( |
Awwwwww, bless your heart......You've had such a time w/your baby, but remember even human babies go through some issues w/loose stools and constipation, and eventually it works itself out....And you being on top of it w/your vet will bring her out of this...Has your vet suggested a little metamucil in her food? You would have to ask the dosage, because of the size of your baby...Apple had to have it, once, and her dosage was 1/2 tsp. on food...I divided it up in two 1/4 tsp. doses per day, for a couple of days...But this is only a suggestion, and just want you to ask your vet about it...I'll say a little prayer for you both that this all works out soon, and you can spend less time stressing, and more time enjoying....Take care of yourself.... |

Thank you so much, Bailey is so tiny, I feel like he isn't growing, I know he has gained weight, but he is sooo small, it is hard not to worry about him. When I seen the bad poops again my heart sunk, he was doing so good. The vet never mentioned the Metamucil, I hope this is just something simple. I gave him a little soft Ceasar yesterday ( I know it's horrible stuff) and that's when his poop got bad again. I can't see the food doing it though. I just want him to be okay, I have read how so many horrible things can happen to the little babies so quickly. |

What foods are you feeding him? Is his appetite still good? It may be helpful to switch him to a very simple food like duck/potato or something...but it's hard to say if that'd even help without knowing for sure what's going on. Wasn't he just dewormed? |
I am not sure what all Bailey gets to eat but just a suggestion or thought...My honey I can change up her food all the time and her belly is always fine BUT my Teddy gets mucosy/bloody runs every time I change almost anything with his food. He has alway been that way. Could be Bailey just has a sensative tummy and doesn't like to have anything changed. A little pumpkin always settles things down for teddy. |
Sorry Bailey has bad poop again. Hope he feels better soon. When Laya was a puppy, even the slightest change in food would cause her to have mucousy stools with blood in them. Finally after months of bad poops and many vet visits, the E.R. vet finally diagnosed her with coccidia. It never showed up on any of her previous stool samples. They put her on Albon and she got much better. But even to this day, I have to be very careful with her food and treats. She can be perfectly fine and all of a sudden have one of the worse poops ever. She just has a very sensitive digestive system. It is very frustrating, but hang in there. I'm sure Bailey will be fine. Just be careful with new foods and treats. Keep us posted on his progress. He is a real cutie. |
Thank you everyone for your input. Bailey finished his 10 day coccidia treatment 2 days ago, it didn't show up in his last poop sample, but she (vet) told me to give it to him anyway, and I am deworming him again, his next treatment is July 1st. I gave him the Ceasar because the chicken I prepared for him was still a little frozen, I hadn't taken it out soon enough, and Bailey was hungry, I should have waited. I've been feeding him mainly dry kibble mixed with rice or potato and chicken..sometimes with pumpkin mixed in. He doesn't get any treats, only cherrios for training. Those runny, mucousy/bloody poops are terrible and they smell awful. Bailey's appetite is unbelievable for such a little guy, he eats alot, drinks, plays hard and seems normal except for this problem, and that is what worries me too, I keep checking him when he is sleeping to make sure he is okay. One lady posted that her puppy seemed fine one night, doing all the normal puppy things, and the next morning he had passed. |
cherios this is the second time i have seen this for training . do you just use plain cherious. is this good for them? And chicken rice, and pumkin, table food. I thaught table food was not good for yorkies. |

Keep in close contact with your vet. Let him know that Bailey is still having blood in his stools. I honeslt do not think that he is terrible sick . He is showing know other major signs of illness, playing like a normal little puppy, and having a great time. This is why it is important to keep taking him back to the vet , bring a stool sample , and let the vet figure out excatly what is going on with your little guy. Sometimes it can take a while to cure a nasty bug . but, it will get cleared up! He is going to be OK! Just remember that your baby is healthy otherwise, and you are doing all the right things for him. He is happy, energetic, playful, eating well , and all those wonderful things a puppy should be doing . He should be OK ! :) |

Thanks, I hope he will be okay, I just wish I could pinpoint what is causing this. |
You just love that little Bailey. I hope he get well soon.... |
Is the breeder helping you with any of these vet costs, it just seems like so much you are going through and you just got him. Poor guy. I think it could of been the food that upset his bowels. Stormy has had poops like that. Vet said it could also have been an allergy to something in the food. I hope you can find out what is wrong with him, poor guy :( |
