Food question Hi - I wondered if anyone had found any information about high meat content diets for dogs. I understand the BARF principle, but recently came across someone that contests this as a principle. Still agreeing with now wheat etc, but mainly feeding brown rice, meat and vegetables. Real Food for Dog This is the food that I was recommended for my yorkie as a result of the conversation because she thinks Orijen puppy is too big that I am giving her. Any opinions? I want Belle to have the best, the kibble from Burns is quite a lot smaller...Orijen is also a mail-order only option for me, but this is slightly more available. Thanks for your time. Jeannette |
I think Orijen is one of the best foods out there. I am all for grainfree high protein diets IF your pup can tolerate the high protein. If Tink is doing well with the Orijen, I wouldn't switch. I use EVO which is also a high protein (high meat content) grainfree kibble. I use the Evo as part of my rotation raw diet. I have never heard of this Burns food, but looking at the ingredient list, looks pretty good. If you chose to feed a grained diet, I would ask for some samples.... Smiles- Snick & Viv |
I looked at some of the other Burns adult foods, I would never feed a food where the 1st ingredient is not meat. But then again, they state some of their kibbles are for dogs with diet problems, so that I understand....:) |
