Submissive peeing :( Lately , Suzi has been Submissive peeing when very excited. It happens when someone comes over to the house. A couple of people knocked on our door this afternoon and as soon as the door opened Suzi was out on the balcony greeting them> the guys were all dressed in nice clothes, with a shirt and tie .Suzi peed all over the place , happily ;) Is there anything that can be done about this behavior? She is not unhealthy is she? Is this common behavior? She only does it when overly excited. |
I never been without a dog in my whole life, I have small, medium,large...etc...but I remember 3 females, one german shepard(minerva), one maltese (Tanya) and one mutt (mancha) , the three of these dogs peed all around when they see somebody they really like or when they see me when i came home after school, even when we were getting ready to go out...I don't think she has a problem maybe she is just too happy or exacting, is she a puppy???? my dogs stoped doing this when they grow up |

I can't tell u exactly when they stoped to doing this but i do remember a clean house and happy guests and owners, so i think is just because she is really young and like human babys they just go with the flow....I had three and they all did the same so i don't think is that bad but of course you can always ask to your vet...and I hope she'll get better:) good luck and keep posting Mire |
Glad to here that my little girl Fancie Pants isn't the only one doing this . I was surprised to see her wetting when she gets excited, I only thought male dogs did this . I hope she out grows this as she is only about 6mths. old. |
hahahaha it's so funny i said i had all kind of dogs including males, but were just the girls with this wet problem, LOL I have never seen a boy doing this and now i'm learning that boys do this more often........ |
Did this just start? I know usually dogs will grow out of this behavior. My dad has a Jack Russel mix that did this from the time they got her until nearly a year old. We learned she usually didn't pee if we just totally ignored her when we walked in the house, no touch, no talk, no eye contact. |
I just posted about this topic last week. My 11 week old yorkie baby started doing this after a scarey incident with the neighbor dog. She had not done it prior. It can be brought by many different things or nothing at all. I got lots of good suggestions here and googled "submissive urination" online as a YT member suggested. Excellent information and happily with the suggestions given we have had a good week. As long as we don't fuss and make a big deal approaching her to pick her up she is fine. If we make a huge deal-you know baby talk, make eye contact just gushing over her she tinkles just a bit. If we just approach her without actually talking "at" her with lots of gushiness she is fine-no tinkle!!! I am so happy. Once she is in our arms we can gush and baby talk as much as we want and no piddle!!! I just love her to pieces and I think that she will outgrow this all together. I thank YT for helping me understand the problem and leading me to some a recourse to remedy it. |
Our Francie girl did this up until she was over 2 years old, very night when we came home and when she met new people. If your baby is 15 months most suredly still is a Puppy (up to 2 years). Don't worry its totally normal. Does the pup drink an excessive amount of water. I've also heard there can be a link to certain foods that make peeing more frequent. Yes Males do this more often to as Marking a territorial trait. Hang in there. Also we never made a big fuss, just quietly cleaned it up. Think about it if you are tiny peeing is the best way to get immediate attention right? Surely this factors in with most dogs as any attention is good attention, espcecially with Yorkies! |

When she was a very young pup my sister in law came over , and picked Suzi up. Suzi Peed a great amount all over her shirt. That was funny, I don;t really like my SIL very much:p Suzi has not peed on anyone like that since. Her submissive peeing is sometimes a little or a lot . Suzi has this attitude when people come over they are here just to see her:) I am now hopeful she will outgrow the behavior. |
