Ticks this year are TERRIBLE I'm using K-9 Advantix on Walker after Frontline didn't seem to work well on ticks last year. Well,we still get them. A lot of them!!! I take an average of 10-12 ticks off of the poor guy every day after we walk. Granted, he's off leash and in the weeds for half the time. But isn't the idea to prevent/repel ticks with that stuff? And they aren't just crawling on him either. I just bought a flea and tick collar and that does nothing! Revolution I use to prevent heart worm is supposed to work on ticks as well. All this stuff is expensive and I can't keep switching around all the time. This is so frustrating to me and I don't know what else to try anymore. Everybody tells me, how bad ticks are this season. What's your experience and what works best for you? We live on a lake and Walker is always in the weeds or the swamp and just the biggest tick-magnet! Thanks for your input ;) |
Good grief, thats a lot of ticks.Sometimes I wonder myself how good some of these products are and there not cheap. We havn't had the tick experience yet just fleas lol so I will keep looking to see what others advice. |
Wow, that IS terrible! Jackson was on Frontline Plus in April and May and in the month of May, I found 4 ticks on him. Ever since switching to K9 Advantix, there have been zero ticks! So it's worked for us. |
I HATE those things!! My parents have a large fenced in area for their little girl to run in..she also would come in with a tick...EVERYDAY!! My parents property is surrounded by woods and tall grass...My Mom bought something from Smith and Foster that you either spray or spread in the yard. I believe it's safe for animals after it rains.. So far so good.. I dont' put anything on my girls, and if I do it's a natural flea and tick spray. I don't let them in my parents back yard...Ticks just freak me out! |
Have you tried this: I just bought it because I use Advantix and I still have ticks as well so far 4 Springtime Inc - All Natural Supplements for Horses, Dogs, and People, Springtime Inc. Supplements, Springtime Inc. for Horses, Springtime Inc. for Dogs, Springtime Inc. for People, Chondroitin sulfate, Glucosamine HCL, MSM, Vitamin C, Bioflavonoids, |
I'd keep Walker out of the weeds and swamp, and walk him on grass or paved surfaces. The ticks are out of control where I live as well, and our dogs stay on our deck or walked on the road. We live in the woods, and it's just not worth the risk of any of us getting Lyme Disease. I don't think any flea/tick preventive is 100% reliable. |

So I got this flea and tick spray from Adams and I was told to spray it underneath the dogs on their belly every time we go hiking. They said that will prevent the ticks from jumping on them. Now i dont know if it will for Walker because it sounds like theres a lot of ticks in your area, but i hope this helps a little. Good Luck!!! Oops!!! i forgot to add that the next we went hiking, no more ticks!!! |
