Cracked Feet  Sweetie has cracks in her paws. Does anyone know what I can use on her feet to stop it from happening? |
I would just put some vaseline on them periodically to moisturize them |
Thanks, I'll try that. |
Walmart sells a product called "Bag Balm" -- it used to come in a little tin. I have not bought it in a long time so not sure now. But it works wonders on things like this. I actually used it on my own cracked heels when I was having a severe dry skin problem. If they are bleeding or appear to be causing pain, I would have a trip in to the vet just to make sure there is not infection or a fungal problem. But if not bleeding, and not causing any limping or pain, then just applying the Bag Balm or one of the many products made for dog paws (PawButter, Paw Balm, etc) should help. I would look to th ecause. Could it be that you need to add some essential fats? How about adding a little Salmon Oil to the food? That might be just the ticket to heal from the inside out. |
She is not limping and I have asked the vet about it. He said to use omega 3 and I started. I will look at Walmart for "Bag Balm" |
Be careful with the Vaseline. I once put it on Chase's paws and he managed to lick some off. It made him vomit a few minutes later. Petroleum jelly is a non-toxic substance that might give dogs upset tummies. I was thinking of buying Musher's Secret, which is supposed to help moisturize and protect the paws. It's a little expensive, though. |
