Tough SH!T.. Literally
 

So Marley is pooping almost normally, but its hard. I have fed her chicken and rice baby food and She won't eat her food with water on it. What can I do?

Everyone says to add pumpkin to their food...the REAL pumkin in a can. Seems it hardens or softens poop. a little apple a day works for my Ted.

What type of dog food are you using? If a dog food is basically filler, then its going to be harder. So try to get a dog food with more protein and definitely vegetables and fruits. I like Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble for reviews and gradings on things like that.

Canidae, Merrick and Timberwolf - are 5 star brands and you can get it at petco and places like that. I know at least we got Zig's Canidae All Life Stages there.

Sorry, I'm not familiar w/your problem. Are you only feeding baby food?

I feed her Royal Canin for small indoor breeds. I only feed her a spoon or two of baby food as a treat. I tried more though here recently to see if that would help with constipation. I have been feeding her the same food since I got her almost 4 or 5 months ago. She just now started having small "nugget" like turds.

I wish I had access to Petco... yah see, I'm military and I am stationed in Japan. I looked into ordering some kibble online and it cost more than the actual food to ship it here!! Thanks for the website though!

I fed one bag of RC but decided it had too many grains and fillers, so I switched to Innova Evo. Since you don't have access to all the brands, can you speak to a Vet to get a supplement for her that would off-set the fillers in the food. RC is not a bad food, it just isn't the greatest. Surely ther is something you can add to help her digestive system but since I'm not a nutritionist, I can't help you. Just a thought. Good luck and thank you for the job you are doing. Hello again! Okay... I fed Meg Royal Canin Indoor Small Breed for a bit, too. She LOVED it, but it did make her poops very hard and compacted. THe bag actually says something about the food reducing the amount of waste and making it odorless (right, because that is healthy...). So I think that the hard poops are normal with RC. There isn't necessarily less poop, it's just really compacted and dense. Now that Meg is on Wellness Puppy and Taste of the Wild Prairie, she's having normal poops again. I'll definitely get you that website I ordered from. I get so excited when I find a store that will ship to APO addresses... they are so few and far between.

The other option is to have someone in teh States pick up a 5# bag and put it in a flat rate priority mailing box. I had to do that before I found this online company.

Yeah that makes sense, but I agree, does not sound healthy now that I sit and think about it. I will have to look at the website you have sent me. I appreciate is SoOoO much !!

Yah, I think there are worse foods than RC, but I really do not want Meg to eat it. She loves it, but I've finally weaned her onto the Wellness and TotW. Phew.
