No teeth-Just wet food??? Luli my 8yr old rescue just got spayed on Monday and they pulled her only tooth she had left. My question is should I just feed her wet food or continue with wet kibble too?:tongue: |
Aw, bless you and your little rescue girl :). You could do either -or- what works best for her. If you start canned, do it slowly to avoid digestive issues (if there are any). Canned food is sometimes called "fresher" bc it is less processed, so that might be a beneft. If you do moisten kibbles, keep in mind that the pet food industry warns that salmonella is found in almost all bags of kibble, so you just wouldn't want moist kibble to sit too long, due to potential for germ growth. Adding some canned might be very exciting/fun for her too! :p |
Awwww bless her little heart and yours too for rescueing her. Adding water or broth to her kibble to moisten it for her to chew would be good and canned food also. Change around alittle bit so she won't get bored with it. I wouldn't leave it on the ground more than 20mins or so if she dosen't eat it get rid of it. Bacteria grows on anything that's wet and sitting. You can also add baby food veggies that are pureed for added nutrition and flavor. Carrots and peas and green beans they love. Good luck with you little one. |
Poor baby...does she need donations for dentures???:p |
Thanks for your help! At least now her tongue can go to either side. Poor kid! She actually did alot better than Katie did with her spay. For only being a little over 2 lbs she is a pistol! :p |
That's wonderful, I hope she has a great life with you. The main reason I don't like canned is because I think it worse for the teeth, but since there are no teeth to worry about, your home free! I agree with the others, any changes in diet should be made slowly. Two pounds, wow that is small. |
