Does my yorkie need to get her tooth pulled? I recently went to the vet and my dr. said that my yorkie had a baby tooth with her adult tooth and the baby tooth needed to be pulled. Is that really the case? She has never shown any sign of discomfort. Thanks. |
Welcome to YT. How old is your Yorkie? Some Yorkies get baby teeth pulled when they are neutered (under anesthesia). |
She's about 1 1/2 yrs old and has already been fixed. I'm sure there's a good reason, but I just wanted to check into before I fork out $120. |
Retained teeth can cause tooth rot. She really needs to have it removed. |
I figured there was more of a health reason to it. Thanks for your input!:D |
She does need to have it removed. If your vet is using general anesthesia (hard to say for one quick extraction), it should be a lot more than $120 because blood work should be done first. |
Before I had Mimi's baby teeth removed, food would get stuck inbetween her teeth all the time. That's what causes tooth decay & plague. I've seen dogs as young as 2 yrs old w/rotting & missing teeth...very sad. |
I definitely want what's best for her, so I'm going to schedule an appt today. Thanks everyone for your advice!:animal-pa |
