Vaccine Boosters? Suzi has had all her vaccines> Now she's 15 months old. Does she still need boosters? I understand that the Rabies vaccine is good for 3 years. I do not want to have to put her through any unecessary treatment. I am also going to be bringing home a puppy probably by the end of the month. The puppy I have been looking at has had at least one set of shots> Am I risking Suzi's health? Or does she need to be re vaccinated? If so, which ones should she have? Thank You. Suzi is also mostly inside with us. She does go on walks , weather permitting. :aimeeyork |
if you got a 3 year rabies- then yes, she is good for rabies. Many studies show that after a year of age- dogs do NOT need to be vaccinated yearly- the vaccines will often last up to 7 years (i think i have that right). So what you can do is ask your vet to do a titer test. This will see if the vaccine is still in her body and being effecitve. I plan to never have Layla vaccinated again- except for the rabies- which are law :( Suzi is completely fine with the new puppy coming since she is all up to date. |
Thank you SO MUCH  This is what I needed to know ! I feel a big sigh of relief has come over me .:thumbup::thumbup: |

Was rabies given as a one year booster or just last year as a puppy shot? One year boosters are necessary if pup shots were stopped at around 16 weeks. After that there are different protocols to choose from. |

I also wanted to be certain that Suzi will protected when we bring home a new puppy. And the new puppy is going to be safe too. |
She absolutely has to have a rabies booster one year from the pup shot according to Cali law, then I think it's every three years. I'm confused about when she got distemper, parvo and hepatitis. Could you give dates for all of them? This will affect whether or not she needs them this year. |
