NV raw diet questions Hi :-) I am in the process of getting both of my yorkies on the NV raw diet. I'm trying to determine the best type to buy; patties or medallions. I also am not exactly sure about how much to feed. I have been giving my 8 pound adult 1/4 of a patty 2Xs per day(4 oz) and my 5 month old puppy the same (she is 3 pounds) According to NV website the pup should get 3.3 oz and my adult 3.2. Does this sound right? So they actually are getting 4 oz each per day. Is is better to estimate up in oz? When are yorkies considered adult because the feeding amount changes for the puppy to 2 oz then. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for any advice with this. |
Bella is on NW raw and we get her the medallions. She is 3 lbs 4 oz and eats 3.5 to 3.75 a day (right now). I do think when they go through growth spurts they seem to be hungrier and in that case we would up it a bit. We also add a vegetable or piece of fruit for a snack. |
i feed raw to my maltese i use the medallions right now hes about 3lbs and going on 4months old i give him 3 a day but i also leave the kibble out for my puggle and he also makes his way there and has a few too |
Hmmmm...seems like you all feed more than I do. Snickers is 3.3lbs and he eats 2 medallions a day, so 2 ounces. |
Mine were only getting 1.3 and 1.6 a day plus their kibble in the evening but they were gaining wt. I haven't figured out what is a good amount yet. I just give them every once in a while now until I decide what to do. |
Right now, I'm only giving Sasha 2 medallions plus 1/4 cup of kibble. It seems to be the perfect amount for her right now as she normally doesn't eat much anyways. She's about 8lbs. |
Laya is 8.5 lbs and I am giving her 3 medallions a day. She gets a couple of treats or green beans also. She was up to almost 10 lbs, but since putting her on the raw diet she has slimmed down nicely.:p |
