Omega 3/ Missing Link I am thinking about a supplement. Should I use both? Or just one? Or neither? Just starting my search for a skin and coat supplement. Any advice is greatly appreciated. |
ah i'm not crazy on missing link- i know many use it- it contains flax seed which some dogs are allergic to- so i stopped using it. If you are looking for something for coat/skin- Omegas are great but you have to give them with Vitamin E. |
I highly recommend Ark Naturals Royal Coat. It' fish and borage oil. It was recommended to me by Wyliesmom and I am running around recommending it to everyone.:D Sugar has seasonal allergies and his skin and coat are a real challenge. This made the biggest difference, I can't even begin to tell you. Night and day. I've used Missing Link in the past and also salmon oil. Royal Coat rocks!!:) |

It's fish (Omega 3) and borage (omega 6) oils. Since the salmon oil on it's own didn't do the trick I assume the addition of borage is the secret, at least for Sugar. Aww, Marci, that stinks. Curing dry skin without being able to use oil sounds crazy hard. |

Like Nikki said, I do love the Ark Naturals - it not only has the fish oil (fatty acids EPA/DHA), but also has borage oil - which gives LA and GLA, both of which can be really beneficial for atopy / skin issues. It also already has the E in it, so you don't need an extra supplement just for that. :) |

Cali Girl had the same skin issues when we rescued her. Her poor coat felt and looked like straw. Her vet recommended us to use DermCaps. After six months of use, her skin and coat has made a complete turn around. It's now soft and strong and healthly. You might want to try that as well. |
