Question about boiled chicken It seems like all my yorkies want to eat is boiled chicken. I mix canned dog food in some times and scrambled eggs. Is it okay for them to eat chicken alot? I leave Natural Balance Ultra bits for them during the day when we work. They will eat some of it during the day. They do like their fruits and veggies too, but I just wanted to make sure I'm not hurting them with chicken just about everyday. |
Thanks for asking this I've been wondering about chicken too. I only feed Wellness kibble with only a treat of human food occasionally my worry is that it will give them diarrhea or a tummy ache from the chicken being richer than what they are used to. |
Mine have chicken everyday, not a lot but I mix it with their kibble, veggies, and fruit.:) |
mine get a lot of chicken. I have to be careful tho because if I give it to them every day, they go off their dry kibble. As far as fruits and veggies, mine will have no part of those and do not even like most treats. |
I'm not sure how many have read about the issue I had with Chicken Soup For Dog Lover's Soul (Canned Food) but my dogs were very sick for a week due to a problem with the meat in the food. Between this and the last recal in 07 with the Melamine I have since been home cooking. I boil Chicken, brown rice and carrots. I chop it all up and I feed them this ever night. I also free feed kibble. I asked my vet and he said it was fine. He said if you have the time by all means cook for your dogs. The only reccomendation that was made is to limit beef (if you choose to include beef in their diet) he said it would be like us eating a big mac. Our vet said their are also nutritionists who for a fee will make up a couple of recipies for you according to your dog's needs. Elaine |
I mix in little bit of chicken, green beans & sometimes boiled white rice in their kibble. They love it. Read here on YT that too much protein is not good for some yorkies. I only give them a tiny bit every meal, sometimes plain salmon. |
